Which Pedialite? Since a walk last night, Liberty has intermittently been throwing up - little bit each time. He's mostly taking home-made chicken broth; not much at all in way of solids. Doc says since he is still urinating, having normal bowel movement, etc., breathing normal, and is reactive to stimuli, that not an emergency (at this moment). I'm to give him Pedialite. We have both the unflavored and the orange flavored. Is it ok to try the flavored one first? Is this safe for Yorkies/dogs? |
I always use the unflavored. I'm not sure about the flavored ones. |
Unflavored Ok, thanks! |
ZoE will only drink the orange flavored...same with gatorade too! The popsicles are good too. |

Hope he is doing better. Please keep us posted. |
Thanks Thanks for all the feedback. Liberty is doing much, much better. The injection for nausea was well worth all the expense and seemed to be the key factor. Late that evening, he actually went to his usual feed bowl and was searching. So I made a soft concoction flavored with homemade chicken broth and he's been eating since! Now I can sleep. ;-). It was probably a virus but am still not going to walk him on the grass anymore where I cannot actually see what that little nose is going into. Four lbs. is awfully tiny to miss even one meal. I swear he's a goat - Yorkie cross with all the stuff he likes to sniff and nibble outside! Thanks again. |
Oh, goooood news! My Yorkie is a little goat, too. Grazes outside before I can stop him he's popped something in his mouth in the back yard. He has his tummy upsets from it from time to time, too. We have stray cats and I guess even squirrels that bring half-eaten things into our yard - I will find the occasional bone, a peach pit with some meat still on it, half a huge pecan(quite a few of those, though I have no pecan trees) and lots of empty shells, a piece of meat so hard you can't even identify what it is and so on. Tibbe is entranced by the cats but dang if I don't wish people wouldn't keep them in their own yard or houses due to them bringing in junk and pooping in my yard. |
So glad he's feeling better! I always call Shelby-Dale and Mandie my little goats. They love to graze on the grass and clover outside. I can't keep them from doing it so I just watch and sigh at my little goats. :) |
Mine won't ever drink Pedialyte. They will drink water with a small dash of milk when sick and refusing actual water. None of mine have lactose issues. |
