Help!!!! Theres something wrong with my puppy.he has purple diarrhea I put him on his pee pad and he squirted a purple liquid from his but kinda resembling blood and some parts were dark brown. I took a picture. Someone please help. Hes been in bed all day. |
How old is he currently, what has he eaten lately, any other symptoms like vomiting? Sorry but I need additional information to help give good advice. And welcome to YT. |
Hes been sleeping all day. He hasnt ate much today. I gave him his puppy vitamins,(purple liquid) abd the kong spray as a treat. Im pretty sure its not. His vitamins because its kind of red.Hes almost 5 months. He threw up a little earlier and his stomach sound upset. |
How old is he? It sounds like his vitamins and possibly the kong treat is a bit too much for on his system. I would also be concerned with hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). If you don't have any Nutrical to give him, try rubbing a little bit of karo syrup on his gums and then try to get him to eat. Try to keep him hydrated also. I would definitely call your vet and get him in as soon as possible. |
Hes 5 months old. Thanks for the advice. Im going to call my vet asap. |
Purple diahrea sounds like an emergency to me |
if its purple (vitamins) he may have a red dye allergy. I cant tell you how many times I almost fainted when my children pooped or peed bright red or orange. Turned out it was a red velvet cupcake. The red dye is nasty and many people (I suspect animals too) have reactions to it... |
First, with any situation like this, the best and only advice is to contact a vet (er vet if after hours). Diarrhea and/or vomitting of any kind can make a small dog..especially a puppy..get dehydrated and go downhill QUICKLY. With a strange color, even more reason to contact a vet! I'm thinking it has something to do with the purple liquid he's ingesting. Probably an allergy as mentioned above. We can offer support and any experiences we've had that are similar for educated guesses, but we are not vets. I'm so happy to read you are contacting the vet!! Please update us when you get news ok? Keeping your little one in my prayers. |
Hi and welcome to YT! You've already received the best advice ever (check with your Vet) so there isn't anything I can recommend. I just wanted to say "Welcome" and please do let us know what you find out from the Vet, we worry about all the sick babies on this site!! Thanks! |
Hi and welcome to YT. So how did the vet visit go? |
I was just checking in to see how your little one is doing and if you were able to get into the vet. |
Welcome to YT! I have no advice, but I do hope your little one is feeling better! |
Hope your baby is okay I sure hope your baby is okay. I bet that was scary. I agree about the hypoglycemia and the Karo or Nutrical. Like was said, you can just just rub their gums with Karo and it will be absorbed through the gums. They don't have to swallow it. I think you can also give them Pedialyte for hydration. Please give an update. |
VET ASAP! Could be very serious. If that is blood and there is vomiting, lethargy, you could lose your puppy if you don't quickly act. Get to an Emergency Vet if yours is closed. Here is something that may guide you from experts: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/eme...-articles.html |
Cut the vitamins & treats & take him to a vet asap...puppies can go downhill very fast & dehydration is a big concern w/ these little guys. Please update soon! |
