He is really precious. I hope the steroids help him. Please keep up posted on him. You are taking great care of him. |
What a sweet baby. So sorry this has happened to this little guy, but its amazing the oppticals they can sometimes overcome. This baby has a good, loving mommy and he is very fortunate to have you. Hope he gets nothing but better and better. |
For the video... upload it to You Tube first, the paste the link in the thread... It takes about one month after getting vaccines for them to clear a dog's system. If you see marked improvement at that time... that would be a clue to look into the vaccine issue. BTW: He's gorgeous!:D |

He's so precious. Breaks my heart to see him struggle like that but he sure does keep on trying. I didn't realize he had this issue from the beginning. The diagnosis makes more sense to me now. Bless his heart! |

He is precious I am so hoping and praying your baby will be okay. I hope the steroids work for him. He is a living doll. |
OP: I am again going to suggest that you see a specialist for Colby to at least obtain a real diagnosis. It sounds as if your vet is guessing what this is and giving him prednisone to see if it helps. While prednisone can help for many neurological conditions, the best thing to do imho is to find out exactly what it is and treat for whatever condition that is specifically. If he were mine, I would take him to a neurologist asap. I honestly do not know of any specialist who would advise you not to come in. If a specialist got on the phone and talked to me and said that, I would consult with another specialist! That is just not what they usually do...it is imho out of line but then, I don't know. Maybe he consulted with your vet??? At any rate, I just had to post and encourage you to see a specialist. I shudder to think that your sweet Colby could be suffering. :( While he is cute, seeing him fall over is not cute. It is very, very sad. It does not mean he is strong...it means something is very wrong. Of course, they all are strong and do have a will, but that does not mean they are not suffering. If money is an issue, perhaps you could apply for Care Credit. You can apply online: Healthcare and Medical Financing for Consumers | CareCredit™ You also could surrender him to a rescue, but I would be hard pressed to advise you on one in FL who would do right by him. If you did decide to do that, I would suggest it be with the understanding that they provide the best in terms of specialists. I have seen some rescues in your state who are short cutting on vetting and that is not something I approve of. My thoughts and prayers are with your little Colby. I hope he is well soon. |
Not much time on way to funeral. I have a yorkie w cerebellar hyoxia. I don't think that is what your little one has. There is no pain with it. Message me later I will give you more info Iam thinking you need to consider the following. ACVS - Atlantoaxial Instability The sysmptoms sounds similar. I have heard of this condtion before and actually thought this is what my girl had. talk to you later. Good luck |

I do not even know where to begin :( Colby was doing better, and then he just started declining again. We were working on getting him to Auburn, but yesterday he started crying out and could not get out of his bed. We took him to a critical care specialist and when we got there he would not even respond to his name. Looking in his eyes he looked tired and weak. They did a full neruological exam on him and said he had severe brain damage. I asked if an MRI would tell us something that could save him and he said no we could pay for the MRI but all they would tell me exactly what part of the brain was damaged, but there were no treatment options for him. The vet looked him over thoroughly and said he even had a skin infection which he thought was due to the steroids lowering his immune system. He took his whole history and read reports from the breeder, her vet, and my vet. The conclusion was every vaccine he got made him sicker. The reason why I was able to get him to walk during the time I had him was because for the first 3 months I had him he did not have any vaccines because the breeder said he had all of his. I took him in for a checkup in January and the vets said he needed the shots and even if he had them they would not hurt him. They were wrong. Every vaccine he had was destroying him more and the double dose they gave him on the 15th of February was just too much for his little body and he could not recover this time. The critical care specialist said he is 100% sure it was from the over vaccination he got on the 15th. I told them to do one at a time, but when they gave him back to me the paperwork said they had done both. Now my baby boy is dead, and I along with my husband and kids are falling apart. If that wasn\'t bad enough his blood work that his original vet did was very abnormal and my vet told me his there was nothing to worry about with his blood work. The vet yesterday could not believe they would tell me his blood work was fine, and the steroids destroyed his body even more. Had they taken the blood test results seriously they would have never even prescribed the steroids the vet yesterday said. I wll not be returning to my original vet. I could not sleep last night. I cried all night. I am so sad. I have not seen my husband cry in a very long time. Yesterday he was in tears. The pups will not eat and they look so lost. |
RIP Colby |
I am at total loss of words...RIP Colby...my heart breaks for u and your family. |
I am absolutely speechless............RIP precious little soul.... |
My heaert is so sad for you. Why such a precious Yorkie must leave us and go over the rainbow bridge. Take comfort in knowing you did all you could for him. He is now not suffering anymore. I had to turn my Teddy Peanut back to the Lord, his Creator and it broke my heart. He had a stomach obstruction. He was 10. I cried so hard. I am crying for you now. Colby, you run and play with my Teddy. Know we will never forget you. Someday meet us Yorkie lovers at heavens gate with a happy tail and hug. God loves dogs, He created them. Sending prayers fo comfort to you. |
So sorry I am so sorry. I so wanted him to get better. I know your heart is broken and how u feel. You and your family were doing all you could. You are in my prayers. |
My heart goes out to you on the loss of your darling Colby. |
I am so very sorry for your loss! |
Thank you everybody for your kind words. What is so hard is we had the money to take him to Auburn. We were just working on plans to go. The vet last night said Auburn could not have done anything. There was no cure or treatment for him. Now I can\'t help but think, if I didn\'t give him his vaccinations he would still be here. I miss him so much. His name was Colby, but he will forever be mommy\'s little Cole Bear. |
:hands::hands:I have prayed that his precious soul is in peace now. My heart is broken, bless this little baby that left his paw print in all our hearts. RIP Colby love. |
