I will definitely keep your little Roxie ... and you... in my thoughts and prayers, Patti. Hopefully it is something very simple. |

Roxie Poor little Roxie, sorry she is sick again. Praying she is feeling better now and keeps her food down. It is a good idea to get the tests and X-rays and hopefully they will rule out any disease or condition. After surgery when my baby had a similar problem, he had a stomach motility issue as well as reflux. After the reflux treatment and time he was fine. I do however feed him smaller and more frequent meals so the stomach can more easily process food, to be on the safe side!! Thoughts and prayers for Roxie to get well soon. |
Yes, yes, yes.. My Harley has regurgitation issues. He never really regurgitates any food, it is mostly acid and occasionally bile. He will do it alot is he drinks too much water at once. My vet ruled a megaesophagus and told me I could take him to a specialist. I give him the generic version of Prilosec, which works MUCH better than the regular pepcid. I have to hide it in a treat to give it to him. I can tell when he is going to have the acid because he will sometimes cough. I just dont have the money right now to take him to a specialist, so we try to keep it under control with the antiacids. If it ever does get worse, I will definitely talke him. Also... he has had this problem ever since we got him and when he was neutered and they had to intubate him...that was the worst ever for his regurgitation issue. It really irritated his throat, it was terrible for him. Hope you find out what is wrong with your baby:animal36 |

Thanks! My vet had a cancellation this morning so I took Roxie in. She did an Xray and said everything looked ok. Esophagus was normal looking no indication of megaesophagus and her liver, lungs and heart all looked appropriate size. She felt her liver enzymes were really good except for the one. She prescribed a low dose steroid for 7 days and called in a prescription for prilosec compounded with metronidazole and small frequent meals. I pick that up tomorrow. She wants to see how she does on this and will call me Wednesday to check on her. At that time we will decide if we go ahead with more liver testing. She said while not impossible, she doesn't think it is a liver shunt. I was happy her esophagus looked normal and hopeful that we can control her reflux. I appreciate keeping her in your prayers. |

I'm so glad you got her in today, rather than having to wait until Monday...and seeing your own vet. I am praying for Roxie and anxious to hear how she does on the new meds. Bless her sweet heart! |
Thanks. I trust my vet and am going to give the new medicine time to work. On wednesday we will decide on further liver testing. |
Roxie is in my prayers. I'm glad you were able to get her in yesterday and received good news from the xrays. Praying the meds will help her. |

Praying that it is only temporary reflux and not liver issues. Get well soon Roxie! |
I am very happy to hear that Roxie has improved with the meds and smaller meals. |
