Sorry your pup is ill. If she's not showing any improvement, let your vet know, they may need to change the antibiotics. If I don't see improvement with mine in 24 hours, I'm on the phone to let my vet know. Hope she feels better soon. Welcome to YT... |
I would load up my baby and walk in at the vet...baby needs to be seen immediately...change in antibiotics may be essential, additional blood work my be necessary, rehydration with sub-q IVs...this baby can not be sick and down for 5 days with no improvement.....if they do not get active in this babys care, I woulkd be heading to a vet school or a specialist.....good luck with you baby and please keep us posted on what is happening.....GO! NOW!! |

This pup needs immediate veterinary care and my guess is that she might need hospitalization. I would ONLY do that at a 24 hour care facility. If you have a board certified internal med specialist in your area, that would be best. These little ones shut down quickly without nutrition and hydration. You can find one at: www.acvim.org Good luck...and as said above...DO IT NOW! I almost lost one of mine this week and it was only ONE day. If he had not been admitted to ICU, he would not be here now. |

Also thanks for everyones advive, and my cousin said she lost a dog and a cat to tanted purina and pedigree ,that it set an bacterial infection in them.this might be what happened to my yorkie?IDK,but she usally just eats lil ceasar, she will not eat hard dog food,so is this diet O.K.?i just ordered some IAMS hard dog food online, its says natural health going to try to get her to eat it,is that good? |
Did the vet tell you what she has going on? Dogs who eat tainted food can go into liver/kidney failure. If your dog is not eating/drinking at all, she needs to go back to the vet. I put mine on plain chicken and white rice whenever they are sick, or when switching foods. Boiled or roasted chicken, no spices, no fat, skin or bone, minced and mixed 1:1 with Minute rice, then I add water to that to make it like a stew and serve it that way. (I use chicken meat-only baby food in a pinch) Then I gradually add in some of the new dog food till they're eating all dog food, over 4-5 days. Better brands of dog food can be found at Petsmart or Petco. They're a bit more expensive but it works out bc the dogs don't need to eat as much (read the labels) as they do with cheaper foods (better foods have more nutrition per bite). Also the stores will give you a refund on any food she won't eat, so you can find something she likes. |
What did the vet say about additional test that you had done when you took that baby back in.....did you take the pup back to the vet? After 5 days of being as ill as you indicate this pup is, medical attention is needed....you can not just change dog food.....she is going down and you need to correct that, stop her slide "down the drain", and then when you keep her drom dying, you can worry about the dog food. |

So glad So glad your baby is back to normal. Sounds like you are a good Mommy! |
I am happy to hear that your "rack of bones" baby made a miraculous recovery. Your wording made her seem to be a very, very sick dog. Five days is a long long time for a pup to be sick. Do hope she now has been tolerating food and is putting weight on. |
Also read the labels and avoid any food/treats/toys made in China. Many have finally been recalled, but many are still on the shelves. So glad she's feeling better and eating again.:D |
