scratching Miss Sadie is doing very well after her Auto-immune disease last summer. We got her a baby sister, Mitzy, to keep her company and play with. Mitzy is scratching her ears a lot at night. Vet said may be a simple allergy but the anti-histamines don't seem to be working. Anyone else had an scratchy Yorkie? Her ears are not red, no bites, no hives. ??????:( |
welcome to yt! well mine do get occassional build up and i use an organic ear cleanser maybe once every other week...sometimes it's deeper than what you can see. i assume though that the vet actually check inside her ears?? if not that might be the next move. is there any smell?? could be seasonl allergies, food allergies, build up etc.... many things..... |
Might want to check her ears for infection (they are very prone to that)..may need antibiotics. Did your vet check for this or for mites? Praying you get the answer soon and Mitsy quits itching. |
took her to Vet ears are clear I wonder if her ear hairs are tickling her? |
Sometimes you have to pluck the ear hair because it gets too long and can cause yeast infections |
Well....living in metro AZ is not a help...it's an air trap for tons of allergens...all year round. Do the ears have any odor? If yes, there may be a bacteria or yeast infection in there - for which you'd need ointment from the vet. Did you switch foods, treats, anything? Also, sign up at pollen.com so that you can get daily emails as to which pollens are in the air in your zip code - this can really help with understanding what your dog is reacting to -and ultimately- help you predict next year's allergy timing issues and whether to medicate during those times with, for ex, Temaril P or steroids etc, depending on quality of life. |
