Another reason to take your pet to the vet ASAP!! On Wednesday, I went in to shower and came out to find Marcie vomiting blood and passing bright red blood!! I called my vet who was out for the day and the office sent me to the emergency clinic in Tampa, 40 minutes from my home. When I got there she was already showing signs of shock even though she hadn't passed any more blood. It had only been a total of an hour and a half!! She is 4 pounds. She has hemorrhagic pancreatitis. She ended up staying in the hospital for two days with IVs and medications. The vet told me she could have died if I had waited until the next day to have her checked!! Scary!!! I got to take her home last evening. She is doing very well....Thank Goodness!! |
How scary. I'm glad she's ok. |

Thank you for sharing your story with us. You are a wonderful mom. I hope your baby heals quickly and stays healthy. |
So glad she doing well, it is a GREAT reminder of how quickly these little ones go down hill. |
I hope Marcie are feeling better today. |
So glad you acted quickly and the doctor was able to save Marcie. I know so many people, especially over the weekends, don't always act fast enough, but it can make the difference of life and death in a toy breed. Sending healing prayers for Marcie! |
Thank goodness you got her in! I am curious...is it hemmorrhagic pancreatitis or hemmorhagic gastroenteritis? Either one is dreadful...just curious because I have not seen one with the first one. Prayers that she will be ok. Scary stuff. |
Just saw this, glad to read Marcie is doing better. Sending prayers for your sweetie. |
I'm so glad you reacted so fast. How sad, poor little thing! I'm also really happy to hear that she's home now. Bet she's really happy to be back home in Mommy's arms. :) |
I am so glad you acted quickly and she is doing better. |
What a good mommie you were and how glad I am you weren't at work or shopping when this happened!!! I hope your sweet little one is back 100% very quickly and no doubt she will be, in no small part due to your quick and proper actions getting her excellent vet care ASAP. |
WOW! I am so glad that you acted so quickly. I do believe in,just go to the vet. |
thank you for sharing this story and i am so thankful she is ok. |
Thank You so much for your concern for Marcie!! I wanted to let everyone know that Marcie is bouncing around as if she was never ill!! Prompt and excellent treatment really helped save her life. When I took her in the two diagnoses they were thinking about was hemorrhagic gastroenteritis and hemorrhagic pancreatitis. When they got the bloodwork back her pancreatic enzyme levels were sky high so the final diagnosis was hemorrhagic pancreatitis. Just to be sure she is getting medication for her stomach along with pancreatitis. She wasn't allowed to eat anything for 48 hours as she was still vomiting. However now she is eating and back to her bouncy self. Thank Goodness!! Take Care SandyGrace |
Oh Sandy, that does sound so very scary. I'm so happy that your pup is doing better. What a relief!! |
Wow that is crazy! So glad it turned out the way it did. |
im glad all is ok |
I'm so glad Marcie is better!!! How scary!!! My Fletch in the last year has had bloody diarrhea twice.... just took him to the vet both times. He had HGE, Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis. First time was not too bad, the second time to me seemed not as bad as the first, yet when I brought him in, him who was still running, playing, eating, drinking, etc... the vet did blood work and found that he was borderline on his bloodwork and almost needed to be hospitalized. Luckily for me, I live 3 mins from the vet so we took him in every day for SubQ fluids for 3 days. This was scary to me, because if I didn't know he had bloody diarrhea, I would not have known anything was wrong and the vet said 1 more day and he would have been down and in the hospital for treatment. I go with my gut... sometimes my boys are fine and then some times I just know to take them, my gut tells me it's bigger than a couple days of TLC at home. |
