Just got the blood work back on emma :( Theres still an abnormality, they need to do an ultrasound at Virginia Techs vet school because the vet office does not have the machine. She said if its a shunt theres a chance of surgery to fix depending, or the ultrasound can let them know whats going on if its not a shunt. :( But hoping all will be ok! |
I will pray for you and Emma. She is in good hands at the VT Vet school. Please keep us posted. |
prayers emma will be ok. |
Saying prayers that Emma will be OK. |
Sending prayer |
The surgery for liver shunts is really very successful a large percentage of the time. I dont know how many of the surgeries are performed at VT....or their success rate there....I do know about the rate of success at University of Tenn. I would consider taking Emma there if she needs surgery. |
Moving this thread to Sick/Emerg so you can get more help and support. Hang in there and please know there are so many LS yorkies on here that do great. :) |
Sending prayers for you both!!!! |
Thanks much everyone. Luckily my mom is going to help with finances to help her so I am very lucky and grateful for her. Thanks for that info about university of TN, I have heard some good things about VT vet school but I will research them before taking her. So scary thinking my 3.02 pound girl needs surgery |
Awww...no matter what I'm sure she's going to be getting the best of care thanks to a loving owner like you and your mom. Please keep us posted. |
Keeping Emma in my prayers. |
Praying for Emma. I agree with what was stated above about VT..good hands :) |
I'm hoping the best for you and Emma. I'm reading as much as I can and watching Jules closely for any odd changes of behavior. I've personally never had a dog before so I need to differentiate quickly what is normal and what is not so I can act on it asap. |
Prayers for Emma...and for you. It is difficult having a sick pup. |

Yes, surgery on a 3 pound pup is usually not a problem. I have a 3 pound foster who had 4 surgeries in one year and he is a senior with multiple health issues. I also have one of my own pups who is 3.5 pounds who went through surgery on his hip and he did very well. Going to a vet school is usually top of the line in terms of anesthesia protocols. |
Prayers for you and your pup!! Please keep us posted! |
Taycie had exploratory surgery done in October.. Because she either had a Liver Shunt or MVD. For us, it ended up being MVD. I know how incredibly scary it can be and we will keep Emma In our prayers. Hugs for you too! I know how badly you also need those as well. |
Sending prayers for Emma. |
Sending prayers and warm hugs to you both! Hope Emma is better soon! |
Praying for you and your precious Emma. |
