Wozzy Winnie ~ Advice NEEDED! Winnie has had SOO many stomach problems. My vet suggested to put her on a lamb and rice diet, this seems to be working for the most part. She hasnt had a HUGE vomiting fit in awhile and her diarrhea isnt that bad. I have her on Natural Balance Lamb and Rice. The other day though she had this episode where she got very lethargic when I sat her up she started wobbling it almost looked like she was drunk. She wanted to lean on something. It wasn't obvious until you looked at her directly though. I hand feed her some food and comforted her in a few hours she seemed a bit better. But today she had another vomit session not as bad as the others though. Doesnt anyone else have some of these problems? Should I be worried? |
I'd have the vet do some further testing on her... bloodwork, Bile Acids Test, maybe an xray. |
Hypoglycemia can cause an episode such as you mentioned. Personally with the three symptoms combined, I'd also suggest having a bile acid test done, just to rule out a shunt. |
What is a bile acid test, and what exactly is a shunt? |
A bile acid test is a blood test. Approximate cost is around $100. A liver shunt is a deformity of the vessel at the liver, and is unfortunately a prominent health issue with Yorkies. It's corrected surgically. You can find more information here. Portosystemic Shunts FAQ |
