Small yorkie sick, vet is closed for the weekend I have a small yorkie about 3 1/2-4 lbs,, she's about 10 mths old. She stopped using her pad recently and started urinating in the floor. I thought she was just being rotten. This has been going on for days. Today I thought she was just tired but she's not just tired, something is wrong, she's been shaky, and she wants to stay in bed,, doesn't want to eat now either. Don't think her vet is in until Monday. Could she have a urinary tract infection or something worse? |
Do not wait get her to the Emergency Vet, she needs to be seen immediately. There are several things that need to be ruled out immediately, please take her a.s.a.p. |
She needs a VET ASAP, no buts or excuses, she is SICK.. |
If your vet is not open go online and read the reviews of the closest emergency vets near you... or ask friends if they have a vet office that they would recommend. I always hate when I have to go to a different vet because my regular vet isn't open but an emergency is an emergency. If she is acting unusual I would take her to the vet as soon as I possible could. Especially since she is so tiny ... the smaller yorkies health, when they get sick or ill, tend to go down hill very fast and drastically so I wouldn't risk waiting. |
Please take your baby ASAP Sending prayers and best wishes. Kanawha Valley Animal Emergency Services | College of Veterinary Medicine http://www.yellowpages.com/charlesto...ic-inc-8616157 |
Thank you all !! I'll call and see how long one is open. Right now, I have to let her dry,, cause I gave her a bath incase she was fevered. Her nose was a little warm.. And now she's up happy and playing :).. She even used her puppy pad.. |
That link to the one you sent me is open 24 hrs,, well that's really cool !! |
I'd get this baby to the vet ASAP. |
Good, you can also call them and tell them what you just told us and they can tell you if she still needs to come in or is she can go in the morning if she went on the pee pad.. is always better to be safe than sorry.. hugs, |
I would say get to her to a Vet ASAP. I will keep good thoughts that she is OK. |
Personally, I would not be calling any ER vet......I would be at the door, ASAP....these babies go downhill rapidly and if she has a UTI, she needs treatment before it becomes systemic and her little system is overwhelmed with bacteria.....Did you take her temp??? Wrap her in a blanket and get this baby to a vet! |
These "URGENT EMERGENT" type posts make me absolutely crazy.....Very, very sick baby + request for advice/help/suggestions + huge response from concerned, caring members =.......NOTHING!! Is this baby still alive? Did you get the baby to the vet? Diagnosis? Prognosis??? |
My little baby is fine. She has a UTI. She is feeling so much better now. She never had trouble urinating. I couldn't tell anything was wrong, I just knew it was odd that she wasn't using her puppy pad & I thought she was just tired and resting today but later on figured out she wasn't feeling good. She never stopped peeing,, and she never had any blood in her urine that I could see anyway. She didn't want to eat,, but after she got to feeling better, she started eating and drinking her water again. The shower really helped her feel better and her antibiotic should help clear it up. She's okay, don't worry. Thanks for the help. I didn't know there were vets available anytime you need them. |
Thank you for letting us know the outcome. |
Thanks for the update. Please stay and join in our discussions. We have library full of great info too |
that is what I suspected, I had a little girl with a UTI, last month and it was stressful to say the least. glad to hear your gal will be fine. and welcome to YT.. hugs, |
I am glad to hear your baby is fine. |
Great news! I even now have to remind myself that when potty habits change to check for a UTI. My Miss Mini, other than not peeing on her pads, shows no other symptoms. |
