Took Roxie to the vet today. Roxie threw up the other morning as she occasionally does but acted fine. Then this morning she seemed lethargic and didn't want her treats. Very unusual. I thought maybe she had a tummy upset and thought I'd wait and see before calling her vet. About an hour later she was whimpering a little when I picked her up and Pixie wouldn't leave her side. She was almost guarding her. So I called the vet and they said they would squeeze me in at 5:30. Later in the afternoon she ate some food and I almost cancelled her appointment. I took her in and I got a new vet I had never seen as we were squeezed in. She checked Roxie out and said her tummy felt ok and she didn't seem to be in any discomfort when she pressed on it. Then she checked her mouth and found a molar that was very loose. She said I can try and take her in the back and take her temp and see if I can get the molar out. She said the only concern was if one of the roots was still in solidly it could break off and she would need to have it removed under anesthesia. I told her to go ahead. She brought Roxie back along with a big molar, all 3 roots with it. She said it was infected and that she flushed out the area and she had a slight temperature. She put her on an antibiotic for 7 days. She said Roxie was so good she never made a peep or squirmed. Roxie came home and is doing much better. I am so glad I took her in and the vet did a thorough check and found the problem. |
Good girl, Roxie!! Good girl mommy for recognizing a problem and getting right on it! |
So glad you got her in to the vet! She will be back to herself before long now! |
Poor baby, she had to be in lots of pain. It is so good you notice these little changes and got her in quickly. |
Wow! So Pixie is a little 'nurse' dog! |
Oh poor thing. I'm so glad you jumped right on the changes and got her into the vet. I bet she feels better already :) |
Thanks! I spend so much time with my girls I notice any slight change and usually act on it. Pixie was so cute watching over Roxie. When Roxie wouldn't eat her treat this morning, Cali tried to get it and Pixie sat next to it and wouldn't let her take it. She never tried to eat it. She just waited until I picked it up. Pixie and Roxie are so close. |
Poor baby. So glad it was nothing more serious. |
Glad you had it checked out. That is very cute about the treats |
Poor Roxie! So glad you found the problem and she's back home! |
Roxie is lucky to have you as her mom. Glad that she is feeling better |
I am glad she is doing better. Love when one protects the other. Such a bond. |

I am very happy to hear Roxie is doing well and that the tooth and roots came out relatively easily. Roxie is a good girl for sitting nicely for that, and she is a very lucky girl to have such a great mom looking out for her. :) |
