Liver Perhaps argue was the wrong word, I am sorry. Perhaps discuss would have been better. I just felt for the poster that discussing costs and various diagnostic techniques when he was so stressed might not be too helpful. Of course we are all trying to help, but we do not know all the facts. I feel you are not being too kind to me in your last post. I do not see it was a confused post. I thought you were tending to diagnose and treat, the vit k for example. I just feel for the poster an am sorry for his family and the poor dog. I too have dealt with very ill dogs and know how stressful it is. |

I went to the vet and told her what they said. She gave me vitamin k pills for free. I paid for some multivitamin pills and some more of the canned food that she needs. She also told me to keep giving her the liver pills but I can stopgiving her the 2 antibiotics. They will also come to my house when the time comes to put her to sleep. She pigged out on my homemade dog food. Chicken, brown rice, lean hamburger and turkey meat. |

She has gotten alot less active and rarely gets up which started this week. We've been hand feeding her when she hasn't eaten when we put food down. She does drink water on her own thankfully. She doesn't seem to be in any pain that I can tell. Her breathing is normal and I've felt around her stomach and back pushing ever so soft to see if it bothers her and it doesn't. Her gums are more yellowish but nothing like you see in pictures but I'm sure it will only get worse. I've cried a few times seeing her after coming home and telling her I'm sorry. I don't think she has much longer to go. This sucks so much. |

My prayers for your little Yorkie to get well. It is so hard to see our precious little ones suffer and be sick. I hope she can stay home and feel better real soon. You will have to watch what she eats and not let her get anything to upset her system. My Yorkies do not get anything but dogfood (Blue Buffalo) Once in awhile a little hard boiled egg that I make for the birdies and a tiny bit of chicken. Nothing more. They just cannot handle our food. |
I have just read this entire thread, I am so so sorry that your baby is so sick and that there hasnt been a way to help her grt better, you obviously love your baby very much. your family will be in my prayers. |
She gets dog food I get from the vet. I was told she can't eat anything with fat since it will be bad for her liver. I took her a plate of the food like a waiter and she tore it up. Then I brought her the water bowl again like a waiter and she drank like she just ran a marathon. This is probably one of the best pictures I have of her as a pup and brings a big smile to my face every time I see it to see how happy she looks. http://i46.tinypic.com/wva5jb.jpg |

Pet insurance I think too that to get the pet insurance your pet has to have not had any health issues for the last 6 months. I encountered this when I wanted to get some for Charlie when he was sick with his liver shunt, I could have gotten it for him but it wouldnt have done me any good, he would have had to have had no health issues for the last 6 months, (like a pre existing clause) and then in looking at the coverage it wasn't much of a benefit for what I needed. I dont have Care credit but I do hear people like it for pet needs, hubby and I just put aside money for Charlies health and when he had to have surgery I borrowed against my 401k. If I ever have another yorkie I would invest in the insurance early but at this point it is worthless for us. |

Well we went to bed at 1130 with her on the bed with us in her own bed. Sometime during the night she had to use the restroom and laid down in the other bed. I woke up and noticed her at 6. She wasn't breathing and was very cold. I woke the wife up and held her. Losing a close dog sucks. Thank you for all your help and kind wishes. I hope she's in a better place. We'll miss you. |

Just read whole thread from start to end. What a nightmare for you. I am so sorry to hear she passed this morning, but she is no longer in any pain. You went above and beyond in your care for her and I know she knew how much she was loved. :rbyorkie: |
So sad! I am so very sorry to hear the sad news. Bless her little heart, she went over the Rainbow Bridge when she was ready and in peace. She was by your side and said goodby in her way when she woke you up to go to the bathroom in the night. You have all been through so much but your love sustained her until she was too tired to go on. She will be sadly missed and all of us who have lost pets know exactly how you feel. Please be comforted by the knowledge that she is happy now and in no discomfort or pain. You did all you could and you loved her, that is what she needed in her trials. We all share your tears and mourn your loss. Thinking of you. Hugs, love and peace. RIP little baby. |
