Yorkie didnt lose placentas after birth of her two babies? My yorkie gave birth to two babies and I had to cut the cord for both. after birth we waited for placenta to be expelled but she never did. I took her to the vet day and half later and he gave her a shot of oxytocin, but it didnt do anything? What should I do? she doesnt seem to be in distress or running a fever, but very worried... |
I'm glad you took her to the vet, have you called him back and told him about this? Is it possible, she ate it without you seeing it? Some dogs do eat it, but I've heard that it gives some dogs diarrhea. I would ask my vet what to do. You might get more answers in the breeding forum. It's possible that she expelled during the night and ate the evidence. When I delivered Blazer and his siblings the mama ate pretty much everything she could- sacs, cords, placentas... |
Yes, I spoke to the vet a few hours after the shot and let him know that nothing had happened and he said, well then there is nothing in there. But I was present before, during and after the births and she never expelled or at the placentas?? Wierd.... so i am now a nervous wreck constantly taking her tempature and watching her 24/7... but I think I am now so exhausted from not sleeping I am in worst shape that her! Her babies were born late sunday night/Monday morning and just not sure how quickly infection would set in if she was going to get one... |
