Curious about Liver Supplements. Questions:) Taycie was diagnosed last week from her Liver Biospy that she has MVD. I have been reading alot about Liver supplements. Just curious to who uses what and if you have had success with any of these. Taycie has a follow up with her specialist next week to remove stiches. I want to talk to him about it then to see what he thinks before I start anything. He also wants to keep Taycie on Lactalose and Neomycin for life. I also sent Dr. Remillard her info and has all her medical records faxed over as well so I will also be homecooking. So can someone explain to me the difference of these listed below because I read some people like to use certain ones together or they use a different brand or some are the same thing?? Marin Densyol S Adenosyl Denamarin That is what I can find at the moment if you have another brand I am missing let me know.. Just trying to understand all of them so I am able to talk with the specialist about what might be her best option. I do think it is a good idea, especially since he wants her on the Neomycin. Thanks! |
I think of you and Taycie a great deal. I can't wait for her to get better. I haven't used any of the liver supplements, but I read a thread here that I think you will find very helpful. Please give your little girl some extra kisses from Katie and me. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...k-thistle.html |
Thanks Lisa! She is doing wonderful:)! I am so proud of her! Just trying to get her on the right path to recovery and management so it doesn't get so scary. |
Glad she's doing well! In summary: Denamarin is Denosyl + Marin, given once daily in the morning. Denosyl is SAMe (antioxidant, etc.) same as S Adenosyl (I think) Marin is silymarin (most active form of milk thistle) They all support the liver functions (not all the same way). Denosyl is given PM, if taking with Marin, Marin is given in the AM. Some believe these work better given separately, as opposed to Denamarin, which is a combo of the two, and given once daily. |
