My yorkie is drooling excessively I have a 2 1/2 yr old male yorkie and I've been noticing the past 2 days has been drooling excessively. I noticed this morning his hair around his mouth was soaked from drool and the bed had a big wet spot where his mouth was laying. I did see he thre up a little and it was yellow. He's still very playful, I called my vet and all 4 of their locations but they are all booked until tomorrow. Has anyone had this issue with their yorkie? I'm worried to death but can't really afford an emergency vet bill :( but I feel so bad for my little guy! HELP!!! |
Drooling excessively is a sign of nausea...if he vomited yellow bile, that means he has an empty stomach. Could he have gotten into something toxic (a plant, chemical)? Has he been vomiting for the past 2 days? Have you checked his gums? It should be moist & pink...even if your vet is booked, I think you should take him in & they can surely squeeze you in? That's just what I would do. |
Is he eating and drinking normally? Watch for signs of dehydration. Did you check his mouth for any foreign objects or stuck food, bleeding, broken tooth, etc. If he's not eating and drinking, or is in pain, I'd see a different vet, as yours is booked, although they should see you in case of emergency. |
I hope your little guy will be feeling much better quickly. Sometimes when they go too long without eating, they will vomit that yellow bile. Keep him hydrated (force by syringe if he won't drink on his own), and call some other vets. If my vet told me that he couldn't fit in my sick baby, I'd find a new one. |
This is very scary i went through something similar last month with my little Maya and the vet had to give her iv fluids and gave her a pecid and also some medicine to bring home. Please take him to the vet i am really scared that he can dehydrate. This is a emergency how can your vet not accommodate you?! I pray that your little boy feels better please keep us posted. |
Poor little guy. Id take him to a different vet. |
How is your little one doing today? I agree with the others, take him to the vet as a walk-in..they'll fit you in. |
