I'm hoping you see some pooh soon!

Nancy just posted about giving dogs some tuna in oil to help them go maybe this is an option if she doesn't go on her own soon.

I am so sorry for you and Taycie. Praying that she will be able to do her thing tonight to take more pictures tomorrow, and that you will have answers. Wishing you both a more peaceful night tonight.

Silica dust can be deadly if too much is inhaled.

As for Mylecon, Silica gel and dimethyl polysiloxanes (simethicone) are both non toxic.

Any reactions were from allergic responses in humans to simethicone.

I did not read anything that said Mylecon was 'recommended for use in infants'.

It is an ingredient in Bloat Buster, made for dogs.

There are no regulations for homeopathic remedies, so quality and safety may be of issue with them.

Forgot to add: Did the vet send a stool sample to the lab to be analyzed? Might give a clue to what's going on inside....

Mylicon makes an infant drop that's used in fussy, gassy babies. They also had a recall a few years ago. We recommend gripe water but I don't know it's usefulness or effectiveness in dogs, only newborn babies.

Poor girl never pooped:( we tried:( she is admitted for in-patient care today. She will be retaking x-rays hopefully, bloodwork drawn and a bike acid test done. Hopefully we will have some answers today.

I go thru this with my Tucker on occasion too, but he generally throws up or dry heaves with his tummy issues. He wont jump around like your pup but he will hide, wont jump up on furniture, reverse sneezes, his stomach gets rock hard etc. He was on SD I/D after a real nasty episode that landed him at the vets, xrays indicated alot of gas, blood work all normal. Anyways, recently he was having episodes again so the vet put him on SD I/D low fat and it has helped for now. I will keep your Tacie in my thoughts and prayers and I hope she feels better soon! :)

Duh, I knew that, Lol! I should have said: I read about 5 articles that specifically said that simethicone is not recommended for use in infants. I know Mylicon is made for infants... I also read many opinions that simethicone does nothing for gas, no dif than a sugar pill!.

I use it only occassionally and won't go without it, as it works quickly and does stop the pain of excess gas. One of my pups tends towards bloating, but only once in a great while. I give her Bloat Busters. If this started happening all the time, I would seek a doctor/vet's advice, bc something would be going on to cause the discomfort and where simethicone temporarily fixes the immediate problem, it is not a cure.

I also heard from a vet that raising a dog's front feet off the floor (getting them into an upright position) after a meal can help them expel any gas, so I try to remember to do this with her. Sometimes she burps on her own, but when she doesn't, I help her assume the position. With her it has to do with the build of her body, how she eats, and how much she eats. Overeating can bring on problems with her very quickly, so we're on portion-control diets....

This sounds a lot like Taycie. Taycie jerks herself awake I really feel its due to her rock hard stomach because she is in a lot of pain. She also hides and shakes. Poor girl:(

Maybe she\'s got gas now due to not pooping and if she has some type of cyclic IBD like Tibbe did/does, vets said the spasm could even slow down or cause problems in area of spasm/kink and cause constipation & gas. Maybe if they can give her an emema & get her to "go", she wil feel better & gas will pass. Hope it\'s nothing serious and tests are negative. Taycie girl, feel better.
