So far so good. Did they go ahead & do lab today or are they waiting a bit? |
I'm hoping you see some pooh soon! Nancy just posted about giving dogs some tuna in oil to help them go maybe this is an option if she doesn't go on her own soon. |
Hoping you find out something soon. :( The waiting game is never fun. :( |
I am so sorry for you and Taycie. Praying that she will be able to do her thing tonight to take more pictures tomorrow, and that you will have answers. Wishing you both a more peaceful night tonight. |
Hope things get moving.... keeping Taycie in my thoughts and prayers. Quote:
Silica dust can be deadly if too much is inhaled. As for Mylecon, Silica gel and dimethyl polysiloxanes (simethicone) are both non toxic. Any reactions were from allergic responses in humans to simethicone. I did not read anything that said Mylecon was 'recommended for use in infants'. It is an ingredient in Bloat Buster, made for dogs. There are no regulations for homeopathic remedies, so quality and safety may be of issue with them. |
Forgot to add: Did the vet send a stool sample to the lab to be analyzed? Might give a clue to what's going on inside.... |

Poor girl never pooped:( we tried:( she is admitted for in-patient care today. She will be retaking x-rays hopefully, bloodwork drawn and a bike acid test done. Hopefully we will have some answers today. |
Hope she's feeling better soon and you get some answers/results today... |
*bile acid* not bike acid.. Dang phone:) |
Continued prayers for your precious Taycie:love: :hands: |
I go thru this with my Tucker on occasion too, but he generally throws up or dry heaves with his tummy issues. He wont jump around like your pup but he will hide, wont jump up on furniture, reverse sneezes, his stomach gets rock hard etc. He was on SD I/D after a real nasty episode that landed him at the vets, xrays indicated alot of gas, blood work all normal. Anyways, recently he was having episodes again so the vet put him on SD I/D low fat and it has helped for now. I will keep your Tacie in my thoughts and prayers and I hope she feels better soon! :) |

I use it only occassionally and won't go without it, as it works quickly and does stop the pain of excess gas. One of my pups tends towards bloating, but only once in a great while. I give her Bloat Busters. If this started happening all the time, I would seek a doctor/vet's advice, bc something would be going on to cause the discomfort and where simethicone temporarily fixes the immediate problem, it is not a cure. I also heard from a vet that raising a dog's front feet off the floor (getting them into an upright position) after a meal can help them expel any gas, so I try to remember to do this with her. Sometimes she burps on her own, but when she doesn't, I help her assume the position. With her it has to do with the build of her body, how she eats, and how much she eats. Overeating can bring on problems with her very quickly, so we're on portion-control diets.... |

Maybe she's got gas now due to not pooping and if she has some type of cyclic IBD like Tibbe did/does, vets said the spasm could even slow down or cause problems in area of spasm/kink and cause constipation & gas. Maybe if they can give her an emema & get her to "go", she wil feel better & gas will pass. Hope it's nothing serious and tests are negative. Taycie girl, feel better. |

MYLICON Infant Gas Drops| Safe for the Newest of Newborns. Hylands is FDA and USDA tested in manufacturing as well their own clinical labritory. The USDA owns the terms organic and homeopathic so items labled as such must do so with their approval...not to say there aren't items out there snuck in-they get caught eventually but its hard to regulate every product. I do agree through Hyland's teething tablets contain belldona a substance I don't consider infant safe even in the form and amount used. Of course I'm 'one of those' I don't use any petroleum based products period especially on infants. Like we use HPA lanosil lanolin and aunt Patty's coconut oil as diaper ointment... |

Thank you:) |
Just got off the phone with my vet. As far as X-rays go with her stomach things look very good. She did say the swelling that I was explaining could very well be from her bacteria overgrowth that she also suffers from. I feel like an idiot because duh... I know this.. I am to up the dosage of her Tylan powder. We lowered it a few months ago and now coming to think of it.. On the old dose she was doing excellent.. and now we are experiencing flair ups.. She is doing bloodwork and in suit will follow an ultrasound. This way we will be able to take a closer look at everything in there, intestines, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, etc. The ultrasound will be within the next week. She decided against the BAT test as she felt an ultrasound would be the next best step to really look at everything. The sad news.. On her x-rays of course her back bones show up.. and she found The few discs right before her tail, are completly diffused together. She is putting on a very low dose of Tramadol that actually is goes on her ear tip, so this will not interfear with her very sensitive GI system. She says this could be why she is waking up in pain.. Things have finally settled down from daily activities and this is why she is waking up in jerky pain. I am not sure on the length of therapy she will need from this or what we are up against. I am still shocked. Soooo that is where I am at now.. My head is spinning right now with questions... But we are getting answers and headed in the right direction. |

Wow! You got a lot of answers! I'll pray for good U/S results next week... |
Im glad youve got some answers of what it could be. I know its a little scary but not knowing is worse because then you dont know what can be done |
I'm glad you got some answers! Poor Taycie girl, she just can't catch a break. It sounds like things are positive, but admittedly, I know next to nothing about back/vertebra/etc issues. I'll be thinking of you and Taycie though! |
I know it isn't the best news but it's such a good thing that these issues were found now and you can get right on track. Hoping for a speedy recovery and that the ultrasound will just confirm an adjustment in meds being needed. |
Well, poor sweet Taycie, she's been dealing with a couple of bad things and they break your heart to think they can't tell us verbally; but if we "listen" like you did, they can make a themselves heard all the same. Thankfully you listened, got her in for a looksee and the vet is going to get her squared away. It's just so sad to see our little ones sick or suffering and it totally disrupts our lives when they are not right! I'm praying the vet will find out all that all is going on and get her covered with treatments and bring her back around to feeling herself before too long. There's nothing good enough for our babies and it sounds like she's in as good as place as possible for getting all the help she is going to need to get well. Little Taycie is blessed to have the mommie she has and it's so good to know she's going to feel better with treatment. Hopefully nothing else bad will show up and that's what I'm praying for. I know what you are going through as do most of us - it is tense & so scary - & we'll be here for you and praying for you, too, Mommie. Thank you for keeping us updated. |

Taycie remains in my prayers. Praying that the ultrasound returns good news. Did the doctor indicate whether her spine issue is a congenital condition or if it is caused by injury? |
Sending up prayers for little Tracie. Bless her heart!! |
Side note: Cure for Constipation Something that is a big help for pups who can't poop or have problems expressing their anal glands is adding unsweetened canned pumpkin to their diet. If they are constipated, feed only the canned pumpkin and not their regular food until they potty. If it's being done to keep them regular and/or bulk up the stools so that they can express their anal glands, just add some to their food. :D |
