For any treats, check the % protein, as some are high in protein. Under 18% protein should be fine. Quote:
Portosystemic Shunts FAQ |
Is Portosystemic shunt MVD? Thanks for the tip about the rubber tip pill popper..I will call the vet today!!! I am taking your advice as well as the vet and the many other calls I made to get the US. Is Eukanuba puppy choit for small breed a safe choice to feed? |
I personally won't feed Eukanuba, better brands can be found at Petco or Petsmart or online. |
(Royal Canin Hepatic or Science Diet LD Are these the two you would recommend? |

Here is the thread about Tink's U/S and surgery. Post 18 has diagrams and video of a dog with a shunt. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...g-results.html For an Ultrasound: Eric Lindquist - Veterinary Ultrasound/DX. Efficiency/Internal Medicine |
Thank You Thank You Thank You I will get the US...I am hoping it isn't either MVD or shunt! |
Also for Ultrasound: Mobile Veterinary Ultrasound Surgical Diagnostics Team-Intrasquad Telemedicine | Sound Eklin It's very important to use a very experienced U/S tech/vet to get the best results. |
Can revolution, which is a flea, tick heartworm prevention med for pups and cats under 5lbs. Given 4 days prior to blood work and BAT test make # high? If I continue to read I think I will go nuts. I have read and researched every single site about what could be and can be wrong w Baci. |

It is a possibility that it could have affected the results as it is technically considered a toxin, vaccines can too, as they are processed in the liver....Revolution is what my vet recommends for Tink, he said it's one of the safest to use for liver compromised dogs. Tink has never had a problem using it. |
Thanks for the info. I am overwelmed with info. I am not sure I can handle any more bad news....I am afraid to get the US and find out something terrible |

My precious Elle got sick back in May, and within 2 days, got so sick, I thought she wasn't going to make it. I rushed her to the vet, to find out that her liver enzyme tests were elevated. Her Alt or AST (can't remember which) came back at 1401, and normal is in the hundreds. After being hospitalized and sent to a Teaching Vet Clinic, they did an ultrasound and xray. Came back very abnormal. She was quicky prescribed Denosyl and Milk Thistle. Since then, her labs have been improving. We still aren't sure what has caused her to get sick in the first place, but hopefully everything will be okay for your baby. |
