Red spot where shaved for surgery Sophia had surgery on Tuesday and they shaved about a 4" x 4" square. Her incision is in the middle of it, and about 1 1/2" long. At the edge of where they shaved, she has a red spot (not near the incision). I noticed it the first day we brought her home, but it's a tad bit redder now. Is it possible that it's razor burn or somehting like that? It's not a bump, just a small area of redness. I can get a picture, but it would be graphic with the incision. I'm hoping to get the results of the mass today (but possibly tomorrow), and I plan on asking the vet when she calls. Sophia isn't bothering her incision at all, so I don't think it's from her. |
I believe I would call, just for peace of mind. It may just be irritation from being shaved. |
It could be irritation from the clippers, or it could also be a bruise from one of the instruments used during the surgery... sometimes bruises don't show up right away. But definitely check with your vet. |
I just gave them a call. She said it's most likely irritation, but if it gets any worse to bring her in. |
It could just be razor burn. I'm glad you called... Hopefully Sophie heals up really quickly! Please update when you find out what the mass contained. |
Princess got razor burn from the groomers once. I took her to the vet and the vet said it was actually a skin infection starting and said it was most likely from an unsterile clippers she sees it a lot. My vet recomened the groomer we see now a retired vet tech. I would really hope the vet tech at the vets properly steralized the trimmer used, but you should at least call if not definately go in. If it was from a lack of aterilization I'd bet the vet would want to know so they can ensure it doesnt happen again. |
