Inflamed/ Red testicle 11mo....Insect bite? After a vacation in Maine, I have noticed that Fifa has a dark red, and a bit swollen testicle. He doesn't seem overly bothered by it, but does lick them more than usual. I am wondering if it might be a mosquito or blackfly bite. Has anyone had experience with this and if so, I would love some advice. Thank you! |
In a human baby, it would be a sign of a strangulated testicle and possibly life threatening (such as inguinal hernia, but I am not sure if dogs get them too). If you act fast, it is better. Any possibility of getting him seen by your vet tonight? |

awwww poor little man! he must me uncomfortable! I know they have those big green horse flies in Maine....Maybe he got bit by one of those? I have never had anything like this happen but, my daughter and son in laws boxer got bit by one and he had a really bad reaction to it...his entire faced swelled up! he looked deformed! had to be put on meds....I would keep and eye on it. if it doesn't seem to be getting any better and the swelling going down, i would bring him to the vet.. I hope all turns out ok for him |

I would take him into the Vet to get that checked out… Also he is old enough to get the snip snip- Are you planning on neutering him? |
I feel sorry after reading about your problem. The same thing had happened with my sassy. The problem with him was that he would not allow anyone to touch, the affected area. He would growl every time at the vet, when he would try to touch the area. Then a senior vet suggested, to use natural remedies to cure the problem. I observed that sassy would always lick the insect bite, so after many unsuccessful attempts, I was able to apply a small amount of manuka honey to the affected part. The bite was cured with in 2-3 days. To read more about manuka honey click here. |
hope he is okay |
