need small bites food I'm putting Elsy (and all the others) on royal canin low fat gastrointestinal dry food due to her recent bout with pancreatitis but she is having a hard time chewing them because the bites are too big for her little mouth. I don't really want to soak them in water because I feel it doesn't help to keep the teeth free of tartar. Does anyone know of a low fat dry food that comes in small bites? |
Question: The dog kibble is too big for my Yorkie, what can I do ? Crush It. I crushed it. I put it in a zip lock plastic bag. I padded the old wooden cutting board with a thin towel and pounded it into smaller piece. I suppose you could put it in a blender, or food processer too. |
I put mine in a coffee grinder and grind it into a course meal texture. Works great! |
I know Fromm's Whitefish and potato is only 12% fat and their kibble is very small. |
I wouldn't worry too much about crunchy kibble being good for your dog's teeth...it's a common misconception and regular teeth brushing is the best way to prevent tartar build up regardless of the form of food that is fed. If she does well on the RC and you still don't want to soak the kibble, I'd just use a pill cutter or crush the kibbles like others have suggested :) |
I'd try crushing it. If that is a no go, Purina EN should work. |
solid gold has a low fat food holistique blend 6% fat, Im not sure how big the kibble is though |
