Sick Zoe? My one yr old yorkie is acting strange going one two days now. Very clingy. Won't leave my side and she didnt poop yesterday evening or lastnight until i mixed some pumpkin with some food. After i left for work my bf couldn't get her to eat. Im worried she's sick. |
I am hoping that you took her to the vet. I just read on another thread about obstructions that can occur from something the puppy might have eaten. Please let us know how things go. I hope your Yorkie soon feels better. |
No. I haven't taken her. Everyone keeps telling me she's fine but i just have this horrible feeling. If she's not any better tomorrow morning Im taking her in. |
Maybe you shouldn't wait. Is she eating and drinking anything? Is she able to poop and pee okay? If not, I think you are right to worry and the sooner she could be seen, the greater the chances are of a successful diagnosis and recovery. Did you read some of the other posts that talk about illness in Yorkies? I am not at all competent (lack experience with little dogs) to help you, but I do care and worry for your Zoe. I would want to know someone cared about my little Kipper, if he were to get sick.... |
She pooped lastnight after i gave her pumpkin. This morning my bf couldn't get her to eat but it was after i left for work. |
I can just imagine how you must be feeling, having to work and yet worrying about your dear Zoe. I hope and pray that you will be able to soon determine if she needs to see the vet or if she is just reacting to something that might have happened around or to her (like something scary, something she doesn't like, etc). I wish I could offer more support, but I am so new at this.... |
Its miserable! I've cried off and on...wanted to leave to go check on her....researched on the comp. Its just killing me! |

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Is your boyfriend available to give you an update on how she is acting? For example, is she drinking, playing, eating now? Could a trusted friend go look in on her? Can you take off work early? Have you spoken by phone to your vet? Hoping for the best.... |
Spoke to my vet and the vet my lily sis works for.I've been told to check my tummy and give her mineral oil to lubricate. All of my family is an hr away and we just moved to the area. |
What a helpless feeling! Will you be at work much longer? I am glad that you called your vet and I hope that it will be something easily cured, like constipation. A change in water can sometimes do that, I guess. At least it always affected my human babies. Is Lewsiville in Texas or NC? In either case, if it is really warm and she isn't drinking enough, maybe she is dehydrated. Try to be calm for her sake and also it will help you make the correct choices once you get home and can observe her behavior/energy level. |
Lewisville, Tx. She's just been laying down alot and her being so clingy is not like her at all. And she looks at me with those eyes and it just seems like something isn't right... I get off at 5. So in two hrs. |
I am sure you are counting the minutes...at least it won't be much longer. Remember, I am praying that everything will work out and that you can have peace of mind. When I cared for terminally ill or very disabled children, I can remember the panic I felt when they were not acting right and yet could not tell me what was wrong. One dear child made me cry every time he got an ear infection because he was so happy most of the time and then when he got sick, he would just sob. It can be a challenge to learn to watch for the subtle signals of our animals when they are not doing well. You have been astute enough to notice that your little girl is not just right. |
Im just soo worried. That little sassy fireball is my life. I just can't imagine a day without her little attitude and stubborn behind! I can't wait to get home to her!! :( |
Did you just get her? (NV, read she is a year old) My Bentley didnt eat and barely drank for over 24 hours. He then started vomiting brown stuff. We took him to the vet and he had to get IV fluids under his skin and an antibiotics shot. We had to force fed him a special diet food, and that was after he hadnt eaten for almost 48 hours. :( I hope your baby is ok!! I know what it is like to worry about them. |
I hope she is ok. I wanted to tell you that I never listen to what anyone says when they tell me Georgie is fine. No one knows him like I do and he is the smalliest furball in the family so if I feel like he needs to go to the Vet he goes. I don't take any chances with my sweet boy:) If you feel like she isn't acting right take her to the Vet better to be on the safe. |
Its definitely a feeling i hate! |

I meant her. Her vet is an hr away and I've recently had to go to the er twice so our financial situation is what is keeping us from rushing to the vet right away. I've been pretty sick lately and i was told she could be picking up on this? |
If she doesn't seem like herself, I would get to the vet. Unless the vet said give her mineral oil .....I wouldn't. Please keep us updated...worried about this baby. ((Huggzz)). |
Yes, the vet is the one that said give her mineral oil. When i got home she ate and pooped but she still won't leave my side and won't play with our other dog, she has no interest in anything except being with me every step. |
It sure sounds like she is worried about you. If she is eating and drinking okay and the only symptom is following you around, then she may know something you don't, like picking up on the fact that you are ill. Our mini schnauzer is like that. If I am getting sick, he can always tell me before I even know! Dogs are amazing. I would definitely not give her the mineral oil since she pooped. Is she peeing okay? I am glad that you are home with her now. You can more properly assess the situation. |
I saw her squat to potty but she's so short i can't tell if she really did or not but she seemed ok. Im just at a loss....i have no idea what's going on. |
This may seem repulsive to you, but you can always feel her underneath and see if it is wet from a recent pee pee. I do that and then make sure the wet spot is where it should be and not on my rug somewhere. My puppy is still not completely reliable, so I get pretty nervous about it. Will she play with you? Is it possible that your boyfriend got mad and yelled at her or anything scary like that? Our mini schnauzer comes running to me if my husband begins getting upset about something, even though he doesn't yell. The dog KNOWS something is wrong with daddy and he wants to be by me so he doesn't get blamed. ha ha! |
Not at all. He gets on to me if i start to raise my voice at the dogs. No, i didnt feel for a wet spot. |
Im taking her to the vet in the am at 8 so ill let y'all know asap. Thank you for all the kind words and prayers. My baby needs them for sure :( |
I'll be praying she's OK . |
How did Zoe's appointment go? I am sure praying that everything is going to be okay. I have been worried about you all night and most of the day. My own attachment to my little Kipper is such that I can really relate to your anguish in not knowing what is happening with Zoe. It sure can make life seem difficult! Please know that we all care for the very best for you and Zoe. |
My phone has been acting a mess all day!!!! So...we went to bed and she still slept with us and when i woke up she was actually laying in her kennel. She seemed to be a tiny bit better but still wouldn't leave my side. My bf loaded her kennel up and i took her to poop but still nothing. As we got on the highway i noticed she was shaking and i had to let her out so she sat with me for the 45 min drive. My lil sis weighed her as soon as we brought her in from trying to get her to go to the bathroom but still nothing. She weighs 9.4 now. After that Britt (my sister) checked her temp and it was normal and there was some stool on the thermometer. We put her back on the floor and she just wouldn't stop walking around so Josh and i took her back out. We walked with her then bam!! She started doing her poop walk lol she's like a ball in a pinball machine and Omg!!!! She went big time!!!! We got back inside and she seemed better instantly. Her tummy wasn't hard and the xrays showed the normal amount of waste in her system. They gave me some stool softeners for her for the next few days. When we got home....Zoe was back!!!!! :D |
I am SO THANKFUL that it seems she was simply constipated! Perhaps your hot weather contributed, along with her insecurities of being in a new environment. I send my sincere prayers for continued health and happiness for you all. |
