Vomiting/Not Eating My Yorkie Suzy Q just turned one in March. She has always had an appetite. A couple weeks ago, she vomited a couple days in a row, but she was still eating. When she got sick both times, it was in the car. I took her to the vet and the vet said motion sickness. She got sick again a few days ago, in the house, but she was still eating and going potty normally. Yesterday she was fine all day. This morning, she dry heaved and now won't eat her Wellness dog food. She won't even eat chicken or bacon. She is still going potty like normal, and while outside, she chased chippies and tried to eat leaves and pine needles, which I promptly had her drop. I can hear her stomach gurgling and she seems restless. I plan to take her back to the vets tomorrow. Any ideas? |

To make a long story short the first vet we took him to misdiagnosed him and kept him overnight. We then had to take him to ER and they found it was an obstruction. He had eaten a huge hairball, we have no idea where he got that, he was closley watched, but Yorkies are very curious little dogs. My little Ace had to have surgery and passed away a few hours later to complications. I'm not trying to scare you but I think she needs looked at ASAP! I'm not an expert so I can't say definitely, but I would definatley take her to a different vet and get a 2nd opinion. Do you have any ER vets around you? I would take her in today, because if it is an obstruction that needs taken out ASAP! Please keep me updated. |
its so hard to keep them from eating everything. When i take Emy outside on her leash, she is constantly scooping up stuff off the driveway and I'm constantly opening her mouth and putting my fingers in her mouth and pulling out whatever she has. She trys to eat grass and chokes everytime, I try to pull that out too. In the kitchen where she is gated off in, I'm constantly sweeping the floor making sure nothing has been dropped she can scoop up without me seeing. I read some posts on here that their babies run in the house, it seems impossible to me with cords, coins getting dropped, everything else that sits low to the ground how they can do it without getting hurt. Emy isn't getting out until she mellows out and doesn't poop where she wants to, wonder when that will be.... |
I agree. Take her to a er vet asap. She could have an obstruction. Although er vets are a bit expensive, they have saved a couple of my dog's lives and sometimes it could get worse the longer you wait. |
I have a call into the vet ER now. Thank you! |
Hoping all is well with Kirby. |
Thank you, everyone, and thank you God for hearing my prayers. After a few x-rays, the vet said she's confident Suzy doesn't have a blockage. They kept her at the clinic to rehydrate her, but I was able to bring her home this evening. She's on a plain-food diet for three days before slowly easing her back into her regular diet of Wellness. The doctor thinks she ate something she shouldn't have eaten and it upset her stomach. Her digestive tract is now irritated, but the vet said that whatever is in her system is working its way out. Thank you again, everyone! |
