Please Help! I just barely got my dog Jackson about two weeks ago. His previous owners abandoned him so im still getting used to his habits. Today I left to do some stuff and was gone for about 5 hours. When i got home he had jumped out of my two story bedroom window and i think he has broken his leg but not sure. Can someone help me?! |
You better get him to a vet asap. You never know what other internal injuries he could have. btw how did he get out of the window. I hope you don't tell me you left a window opened at the bottom. |
Hopefully you've been to the vet by now and Jackson is all okay? |
Did you not confine him since you could'nt watch him. Hopefully you got him to a vet...hope he's ok. |

He is also more than likely in shock....please get him to a vet.....Hopefully all he has is a broken leg...... |
Years ago when we adopted a GS who was an agility dog who had jumped from a 2 story window. He had broken his leg and had internal injuries. Thank goodness he survived for us to be able to adopt him. My first question to the past owners was do you not have screens on your windows? Please take this little one to ER vet right away. If a large agility trained GS could sustain that many injuries from this kind of fall think what your little one could be suffering. |
Oh no...this poor baby, I hope has been seen and is going to be ok. Sending prayers do this little one. |
Thanks everyone for your help. I tried to get him into the vet but i live in a very small town and our vet is out of town until tomorrow. He has been lying down all day and seems to be getting better. When i touch his leg he doesnt whine or yell until i touch his foot. My neighbor said that he saw him jump and that he hit my awning before falling to the ground. My window had a screen on it but he must have pushed it out. I have tried just letting him be and have stayed by his side every second but he wont eat or drink anything im not sure what i should do. Also someone told me to give him a baby aspirin but im not sure if that will hurt him or not  |
Is this the vet that's out of town? If so the link provided is for another vet - the webpage mentions they service your area. You really need to find a vet for Jackson, the sooner the better. Hopefully nothing is broken and possibly meds, and rest will be all that's needed. Hedelius, Robert DVM - Ephraim Veterinary Clinic (435) 283-4853 400 S Main St, Ephraim, UT 84627 Home |
I wouldn't give him any aspirin. If he does have an internal injury it could make any bleeding worse:eek: PLEASE get this little one to a vet quickly. Better safe than sorry. Him not eating and drinking is a definite sign that he's in pain:( |
the one in ephraim does not have an xray so he wont take him. The one in mt pleasant is the one i usually go to in emergencies for my other dogs and he is out of town. I have called every vet within a 50 mile radius and none of them are open or will take him. He has started becoming really disoriented and falling over alot. I'm really scared and noone can help him. |
I'm sorry.:( Just find the closest ER even if it if three hours away. If he is out of it, that is a very bad sign. he could pass overnight. ?he has to be seen immediatey. |

I cannot imagine not going any distance if my furkid was suffering. Please, please go wherever you can to get him help! Waiting till your vet opens could cost him his life.:( |
