Romeo's having LP surgery... My boy started limping (left hind leg) on Monday but by the evening he was able to walk on the leg. Tuesday morning I noticed he had trouble getting up and he was not as active. Fortunately I was able to get an appointment with the vet. X-rays confirmed diagnosis for LP4. The vet and I discussed surgery and timing and I left his office thinking maybe, just maybe, I could hold out a few months longer. Even with a shot to relieve pain Romeo continued to limp Wednesday morning so I contacted the vet. The ortho surgeon is available tomorrow to do Romeo's LP surgery. It is breaking my heart to see Romeo in pain and discomfort but I am a nervous wreck thinking about what he has to undergo tomorrow. I am reaching out to my YT family for prayers and positive thoughts for Romeo to have a successful surgery tomorrow, and a quick recovery (and back to his normal self). |
Saying prayers for Romeo. Sending hugs to you both. |
You and Romeo in my thoughts. Poor baby, I really hope all goes well tomorrow. |
Sending out prayers for Romeo's surgery. |
Sending prayers for lil Romeo for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. Hugs to you. |
I am sorry Romeo is in pain and has to have LP surgery. I will keep him and you in my prayers. |
Keeping Romeo in my prayers for a safe and successful surgery and a speedy recovery. My Pixie had it 3 years ago and did very well. Recovery wasn't too bad either. Let us know how he is. |
Thanks everyone for the well wishes and prayers. I am staying positive that he is young enough to heal fast, and the surgeon does not believe any of the tendons are damaged. I promise to update tomorrow as soon as I hear from the surgeon/vet. |
I'm glad you are being so responsive to his needs. I will be thinking about Romeo and waiting for your update. |
Will be thinking of you both tomorrow. Keep up updated. |
Thinking of you and Romeo and sending well wishes:love: |
I am so sorry to hear this. My Layla is 10 day post op. Let us know how it goes and feel free to PM me if you have any questions. |
I am sorry Romeo will have to have surgery. Prayers for you and him. I am sure he will recover quick! Keep us posted. |
Keeping Romeo in our prayers. |
I am so sorry to hear about Romeo's LP! I'm sending prayers your way! Mojo will have to have the surgery at some point (back knees are grades 3 & 4), but shows no symptoms at this point. Ortho surgeon said it was fine to wait on his surgery as long as he doesn't go lame. I still struggle with whether to do the surgery now or wait until he has problems. :hug:Big hugs to you and I hope Romeo has a speedy recovery! |
Romeo is faced with the same. This time the left, hind leg "gave out" and the vet had trouble putting the patella back in place. The right leg is a grade 2 and after consulting with the vet, I opted for surgery on the left leg (for exactly what you said -- if both legs become an issue at the same time then Romeo would be immobile). We are leaving home shortly for the ortho surgeon's office. As soon as I get an update on Romeo's surgery I will inform everyone. Thanks for ALL your positive thoughts and prayers. |
Thank you all for your prayers and positive thoughts for my Romeo. My little boy never ceases to amaze me! His surgery was only 1 hour and there was no tendon or ligament damage. My girls and I were able to visit with him and much to our surprise he was wide awake/alert and ready to jump into our arms. It took some time to calm him and reassure him that we love him and he will get better soon. I left him with one of his favorite blankets and a toy he snuggles with at night, but it broke my heart to walk away...he was watching us and tilting his head as if to say "please take me home, do not leave me here". I am counting the hours until 8am when we leave home tomorrow to pick him up. I have already adjusted everything in the house to accommodate Romeo and ensure he cannot get into any trouble. Update to follow after I get Romeo home and settled... |
