Strange and sudden growth!! 1 Attachment(s) Hello, I'm new to this site. My yorkie, Trot, has a new growth behind his right, front elbow. I can't tell what it is and the telephone call to the vet thought it might be a tick. I can't get him in to the vet today or tomorrow and am worried waiting. It doesn't seem to bother him. Has anyone else seen anything like this? I've attached a picture. Trot is 6 years old with a liver shunt (controlled medically). Thank you for ANY information!! Trotsky:aimeeyork |
Hello there and welcome to YT, there are plenty of helpful people here. I think you should have your little checked by the Vet Asap. Good luck and please keep us posted. |
Looks more like a skin tag than a tick...take him in just in case, hope it's nothing serious. |
Thank you both. It looks like a huge skin tag to me too. Will take him in for sure. "Dad" thinks it is a mole, but I've never seen a dog with a mole like that. Will keep you posted!! "Mom" of Trotsky |
It doesn't look like a tick. You want to have anything unusual like that checked by a vet, especially, when it grows suddenly. Some growths can be cancerous and others are just benign. |

Also, I would email the pic to your vet today. They may want to see you sooner. |
Welcome to YT:D!!! Izzy had a growth on her back leg, right near her rear end when I first got her that looked just like that, kind of like a wart but dark. She was 7 months old. Her previous owner had taken her to the vet about it and the vet gave her Animax cream to treat it, but it wasn't going away. Shortly after I got her, I had her spayed and had the growth removed at the same time and it was tested (NOT cancer, thank goodness!). I'd take the baby in and get it looked at and removed and tested, just to be safe. Good luck!!! |
I agree, this does not look like a skin tag as they are usually light flesh colored. This needs to be removed & sent in for biopsy. I will be Praying it's nothing serious. |
Looks like a mole that needs to be removed and biopsied. Please see a vet about this asap....if it was me, I would insist they biopsy it, even if they say "Oh, its nothing".....but that is just me with my overactive "git 'er done" mentality. |
Looks like a mole or could be a wart but I agree totally with Yorkiemom1 that it should be excised/biopsied ASAP. Dog moles are usually small round dark, symmetrical, even spots that are usually on the dog's underside and not thick as that one. Nothing I know to do except wait for the vet appt. As far as looks, it appears to look like a wart. |
