Nikki could use some prayers. Late last night Nikki jumped up and yelped. I picked him up and he wouldn't stand up at first. After about 5 minutes he seemed ok. Went to sleep and when I went to pick Nikki up he yelped again. I picked him up a few times and 2 times he yelped, once he didn't. I didn't want to take any chances so I called my vet and they said the first appt was next week. She asked what was going on with Nikki so I told her. She said she would fit us in at 3 but we may have to wait. Then she called and said they had a cancellation at 11 if I could come right away. Of course he didn't yelp there but she felt he was responding to pressure on a spot on his spine. She said we could treat for a couple of days with medicam or if I wanted do an Xray. I decided to try the medicine and a check of his blood work. His blood work came out ok, kidney values were no worse than in March. The vet gave him a double dose of medicine there and he seems to be resting ok. He also lost 6 ounces since March. He is 4# 2 oz and should be around 6 lbs. It was 2 weeks tonight that Ken passed and I couldn't face having to make any decisions on Nikki so I am taking a conservative approach and hoping he just has a sore back. He is blind so he does bump into things and has fallen a couple of times. Poor little guy. If he isn't better by next week I will do xrays. When I got home from the vets I got the mail and there was a beautiful sympathy card with notes from all the vets and staff at the vets office. I was so touched as I had not told them about Ken, they must have seen his obituary. I never even got a card or call from his oncologist or PA. So please keep Nikki in your prayers I can't lose him too. Thanks |
I will keep that sweet little man in my prayers Patti. ((hugs)) |

Hi patti What meds did they put Nikki on? It sounds a little like what happen with my Sammy .. His was a stomach upset. Or it could be s disk problem.. I had that with bailey and crate rest and steroids did the trick. He will be ok I am sorry you are going through this.. I still think of you and pray for you Shinja |
Patti, I'm praying hard that Nikki feels much better soon. He's such a precious little man and important to many of us here. Big hugs for you both. |
Patti, I'm praying for your Nikki and you too. Sending you a big hug. |
AWWW Patti I am so very sorry that Nikki is having problems. I pray the medicine will work for him. Nikki will be in my prayers. |
I'm so sorry Nikki is feeling bad. If he's blind, he could have just missed a jump, landed wrong or something & wrenched his back. Hopefully, conservative treatment will keep him comfortable as he rests & heals. Will surely pray for Nikki. What a nice vets' office to send that sympathy card! |
Prayers for Nikki on the way:hands: |
Prayers for Nikki. |
Sending prayers for Nikki. |
I pray that you can feel hope and comfort and that Nikki will soon be free from pain. I know it's not easy with these senior babies, but they are so special. |
