could this be kidney failure My little 11 year old boy has a history of bladder stones. He is on medicaion and special diet for stones and pancreatitis. The medication makes him thirsty, the idea being the more he drinks, the more he will pee which will halp prevent the stones. I have noticed that since the weather is getting warmer he is drinking more water than usual. He is also peeing more than usual. No accidents indoor, at least not that I have found. He does NOT appear to be straining to urinate, I have caught some urine and have not seen blood (I know that sometimes it can't be seen). When he pees it is a nice steady stream. I have read that drinking alot and peeing alot can be a sign of kidney failulre? Does "straining" always go with kidney failure? How can it be treated? He has an appointment with his Vet on Friday, Just hoping I could get your opinion in the meantime. Thanks |
Hi! Diet and meds to treat kidney failure... stones in the bladder will cause straining and blood in the urine. He's already on a diet and meds, and with the warmer weather being suspect, I wouldn't jump to any conclusions. Your vet will be able to tell on examination/bloodwork. Wishing you the best Friday, praying for good results... |
