Luxating Patella My 3 year old Lexie has been having problems again. She had a minor surgery to try and repair it but that didn't work she is having more problems than ever it seems. I'm looking for a reasonably priced orthopedic surgeon that can help me out. I'm not sure if any would be able to do a payment plan since sometimes it is really pricey. Only one knee is bad so it wouldn't be both of them obviously. If anyone has any recommendations that would be great. I live close to Lansing, but I do work in Lansing. |
See an ortho specialist and use the search above to find the many, many, threads on YT about this. |
The same thing happen to my Zada and when I took her to the orthopedic doctor to have her operated on again, he found that the Vet. didn't deepen the groove. I'll never let a regular Vet. do any specialized operation on any of my girls again. As far as finding a very good specialist, my suggestion would be to call Dr. Bruecker at VSMG and ask him for a reference in your area. He could possibly know of one since he goes all over the country teaching his own technique. His number is 805-339-2290 and he own this hospital. Here is some information on him. To find a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist go to: American College of Veterinary Surgeons You can apply for Care Credit at: CareCredit Healthcare Finance - Payment Plans and Financing for Cosmetic Surgery, Dental, Vision, Hearing, Veterinary & Other Medical Procedures Most surgeons accept Care Credit and the payment plans are usually reasonable in terms of interest rate. The surgery is not cheap if done by a specialist, but in the long run your pup will be fixed! I have seen many people let general vets do this surgery and end up spending more in the long run because it fails. Dr. Degner at MVS would be a good choice. If money is a factor, there is a general vet less than two hours from you that does ortho surgery. He is an acquaitence of mine. Very gifted surgeon. This vet is NOT board certified and i have never asked if they do LP. They do CCL tears. has your vet given you a referral? It might be best to just have it done at MSU. You are right there and they seem to have very competiive pricing. |
