Amazon.com: snoozer pet ramp |
I haven't been around, Jeanie. I'm so sorry Tibbe got hurt, but I am glad to see if he doing much better. |
Thank you all again for all the words of encouragement. Tibbe had a good day today & seems to be 3/4 to normal. He is not his fiery self but he's alert & pretty active today & eating food when offered to him - he's yet gone to his dry kibble to eat it voluntarily but is eating his soaked kibble warmed in the microwave. Also, I've yet to see him go to the water bowl today & I purposely haven't changed his water this afternoon so I can see if the level has changed from his morning change. I don't think it has. I'm going to syringe some into his mouth if he hasn't drunk on his own pretty soon. The vet said Prednisolone usually makes them drink a lot so I'm watching him for dehydration. Still, his food I've soaked is in lots of water on purpose, so he's had that twice today. He's peed only x 3 today & pooped. Until he is back to his old self & eating/drinking without special offerings, I will be worried. Thanks for the ramp name & website - didn't know they made scalloped ramps like that. |
I hope little Tibbe will be back to his old self very soon. I will keep him in my prayers. |
Glad to hear Tibbs is doing better. About the water bowl, elevate it a bit as dogs with neck/shoulder pain often have trouble lowering their head to the bowl. |

I wanted a gentler slope yet one high enough that they wouldn't have far to step off the mattress. I have a higher bed, so the top of the ramp is slightly lower than the top of the mattress. And I really like the platform top for them to balance on if they need to. It was perfect for my Alexander who had terrible arthritis and poor vision, and it's continued to work wonderfully for my other babies ever since. |
Thanks for those ramp links! Tibbe is doing better still this morning, I think. He even got his first toy - his little green stuffed frog, the one he came home from the breeder with this morning, out to play with it. He didn't really play but he frisked around for a bit with it. I used about 1/4 cup of water over his kibble & he ate all his "kibble soup" breakfast this morning & he even drank some water for me. I'm hoping he has a good day today & I can really begin to relax that he's really going to be okay. When I think how quickly these fragile little dogs can get hurt - it really scares me! Even at 5.3 lbs., Tibbe is a tiny, tiny little dog & his little body parts are so tiny. To think that people on purpose are trying to breed Yorkies even tinier & more fragile than he is & thus more & more susceptible to impromptu, freak injuries such as Tibbe had just burns me up! Just one misstep & these little dogs can get really hurt really easily. |
That's great news! It definitely sounds like he's on the way to recovery. :) |
