I am constantly observing her. She is obviously weak from not eating as she basically throws up whatever I give her including the VIYO (high calorie supplement). I hope I will learn tomorrow if I should stop giving her Vetoryl as well as one of the side effects is also throwing up (which supposedly treats this particular condition!) I will keep giving her the Pedialyte to keep her hydrated. |
I pray that you can get some answers and some help for her.... keep us updated... |
Thank you. I have explored all these as well and have discussed this with the vet as well. |
I will and hopefully it will be a happy one. Please let's all continue to pray for her. Thank you everyone! |
"Nutritional Support Methods: Many ill and injured pets refuse to eat. We recognize that early nutritional support is critical to patient healing and a positive outcome. With the support of our veterinary nutritionist, we are able to provide your pet with any nutritional support method that is necessary. It is widely recognized that feeding into the gastrointestinal tract is superior to intravenous nutrition (TPN). We strive to utilize the gastrointestinal tract for nutritional support whenever possible. Along this line, Dr. Beal has developed a novel technique for noninvasive placement of a nasojejunal (NJ) feeding tube in the dog. MSU is currently the only facility in the country offering this new technique. Not all patients can tolerate gastrointestinal feeding methods and in those patients, we are able to provide nutrition intravenously in the form of total parenteral nutrition (TPN)." ~~~~~MSU is fabulous.....and they do offer TPN to dogs...which means other vet schools probably do also, as TPN has been around for a long time....I would be on my way to the nearest vet school ASAP......that little darling is desperately fighting to live and she needs all the help you can possibly give her. You have been thru so very much with her already, and getting to the specialist was imperative...but you now need to go to the next level as you are still undiagnosed....??malabsorption disease?? |
Good grief this has been goin on for nine months!!! Sending prayers that your baby has a diagnosis and treatment. |
I will keep Koda in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us updated. I hope you can get into the specialist soon and hopefully get a diagnosis and good treatment plan. |
I am so sorry to hear about Koda and her problems. I sent you a pm regarding an excellent Board Certified vet Dr Scott Anderson who practices in the LA area. Here is another Link to the facility so you can see they have many Board Certified Vets in different specialities in case another Dr is better suited to diagnose Koda's problem. Departments - Specialty Veterinary HospitalASEC, Los Angeles, CA 310-473-1561 I hope it helps. Sending prayers and best wishes. |

Sounds like an intestional infection, just returned from an emergancy vet about a month ago with my four month old. tested negative for parvo and they said it was an intestinal infection. She was put on special puppy food and antiobitics. She is doing good. Dont purchase most cheap treats from the pet stores or any treats if she is ill. I would suggest finding a vet that can treat your pup. Good Luck! Find a new vet now! |

The Only thing you can tell by keeping your eye on her is that she is still breathing, meanwhile there is serious damage taking place on the inside with all of her organs that at this point may be irreversible. She has lost 3/4 of her body wt & is barely alive at this point, she CAN NOT continue on like this & survive without intervention. If this were my dog I would be heading to a teaching hospital rite this minute. I will be Praying that she can be saved. |
I'm sorry.:( Your pup needs to be in the hospital. A lot of specialists have ERs. Then she can be assessed and have doctors around her constantly until the IMS can see her. Vet schools also have ERs. I would not wait. She needs nutrition via another route. I would not waste time at a local ER. Go to an ER where Specialists are available...vet schools are always a good choice. |
I am sorry for all you are going through. Please keep us posted and we will keep her in our prayers. How heartbreaking.:aimeeyork |
