NuVet Plus - Anyone used this? Been doing some researching on how to fix my little Gigi's growth/tumor on her lip. I really don't want to per her through surgery, unless it's absolutely necessary and urgent. I've read quite a bit about NuVet Plus - the testimonials are pretty great. Anyone used this before? |
No. I have never used it. You should check with your vet. |
Yes, I have used it. I have some right now that I need to get back to adding to their food. I think it is really good vitamins. |
Have you had this tumor biopsied? Do you know for certain it isnt malignant? If it is cancer, it needs to be removed NOW, not treated medically with....?? vitamins ??? If the answer is "NO it is not malignant and is harmless", then I would ask my vet for something they would recommend....or take this stuff to the vet and let him look at it and see if it is useful in this case. |
The vitamins are very good and my breeder also uses it. As far as the tumor goes, I don't think I would depend on vitamins to help that. It does need to be checked and removed if need be. I give them to mine to help their immune system etc. Hope the tumor can be removed without any complications. |
Thanks everyone. We're waiting for the pathology to find out if it's malignant or non malignant. I'm hoping it's benign. My poor little baby is only a year and a half. I would never go against surgery, especially if its urgent. But, if it's not, I want to try other options first. The growth is right above her lip and the vet said they would have to remove part of her lip as well. :( I just don't want to do that to her. Thanks again everyone. |

I give Nuvet plus to my puppy, I first ask the vet and he checked it out and said it was ok to give to her, but he did not see a reason to give to my 5yr old Yorkie, if giving him good quality food, it should have all the vitamins he will need. So far my puppy is doing good. Hope this helps, the vitamins are really expensive tho, thats the only drawback i see so far. :o) |
I personally have an issue with Nuvet. They encourage breeders to put a contractual agreement to use Nuvet for the first year or two after the purchase of a puppy or the guarantee is voided. Why would a breeder do this? Nuvet gives each breeder a code that the buyer must use when making a purchase. The breeder will get a kickback for each supplement purchased. This setup then becomes less about nutrition and more about profits. The breeders will give glowing reviews of the product since they now have a vested interest in it. a google search of nuvet and breeders will show that they all have the same nice words to say about the product, since it was given to them by Nuvet to put on their website. Think about it. Why would a dog require shark cartilage or oyster shells? Has shark ever been part of a healthy dog diet throughout history? |
