Dinky facing LP probably We will spend tomorrow figuring out which specialist to take Dinky to. His LP started to cause him obvious pain last night, so we took him in and we were told what we suspected. He has some pain meds now. The vet believes it is likely that he tore or stretched his ligament. He is being really good about resting. We are carrying him up, down, and all around. We are hoping that his ligament will heal, and that the specialist will find that surgery is not necessary right now and that we can treat his LP in other ways. The vet was wonderful. Even though they do a lot of orthopedic surgery in her practice, she felt that because of his size (4 lbs) , he should see a specialist. I've been looking at LP posts and strings. Scary, but reassuring too. |
Prayers for Dinky. It's great you are going to a specialist. Georgie had LP surgery and did great. Keep us posted. |
I hate to hear that. I'm sure Dinky would do very well with surgery done by a specialist, but I certainly understand your reluctance to put him through that. The recovery takes quite awhile. Let us know what you find out once you see a specialist. |
I have had a few with torn ligaments and they did well following the surgery. That is great that your vet has recommended a specialist! Keep us posted. |
Thanks for prayers and concern for Dinky. I am happy to say that after keeping him "off his feet" for about a week, that he stopped limping. He seems to be in no pain now. He is feeling great. I think he might have twisted something or stretched the ligament. Anyway, the rest seems to have done the trick. He has a follow up next week, but I'm thinking we may have dodged the surgery ordeal for now. I still try to keep him from jumping off furniture for now, and most of the time, I carry him up and down the porch steps. Of course, he now prefers this, and waits for me to carry him up and down for his potty times. Oh, they do take to being pampered don't they! |
Indeed they do! :) I am so happy to hear that Dinky is doing better! Thanks for the update! |
