Maggie is acting weird now, sort of like Buster Maggie was fine all day. Ate her normal dinner. We left around 6:30 to go out and got home at 8:30. She was happy to see us, but hubby noted not as happy as normal. She had her stub tucked under and walking slower than normal. She turned down a treat. My sons (19 and 22) both deny feeding her. Said she was lying by the door, which is her normal spot. They didn't notice anything weird but they weren't looking. She just seems to want to lie down. No body parts seem to be in pain and I think her tummy might be a little firmer than normal. Her poo today was mostly normal but had a lighter section with a little mucous. She does get that from time to time. I think it is her tummy. A little while ago I gave her a sip of water from the cap of a water bottle. She didn't want a second sip and less than a minute later she gagged and spit up about a heaping teaspoon of chewed looking food. She then took more sips of water and kept it down. I gave her 2 slices of sweet potato, cooked, today. They were like the size of 2 short but slightly fat french fries. Maybe 1/2 on each side and length of 2 inches each. She also chewed a raw piece of sweet potato, but I found most of that on the floor. She has had the cooked before, but not the raw (I don't think so anyway). She just wants to lie down and when she sits up she looks like she will just fall asleep. Nothing else new really. Lawn fertilized today, but it rained alot afterwards, and she's been on fertilizer before...She was only on it long enough to pee a couple times. If she is this way in the morning I'll take her in. COuld it be the sweet potato hurting her belly? NO diarehea (why can't I spell that today!) and not throwing up except the one time. Her poo was at noon, which is pretty normal--slightly early. She is 2 yrs old. ABout 9.5 pounds. No health problems except worms or something when we first got her. no recent shots. She was going to get her Advantix tonight, but i didn't do it due to her condition. |
i'm so sorry to hear about maggie not feeling well. sorry i do not have any advice, but i certainly hope she is doing better today. they sure can scare us at times!!! hoping someone with more experience will come along.... please update when you can! |
If you feel like she's acting different, I would take her to the vet. Something could be going on, and it's better to figure out what's going on than to sit on it... |
Turned out to be easy. Around 1 am I checked on her again and she sat up and came out of her cage. She went outside and pooped. It was half normal and half had a lot of mucous. I saved it just in case. Then I looked around her cage and found she had thrown up, probably her whole dinner. I looked to see if there were any foreign objects and found a strip of sweet potato skin about 2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. I've given her it before, but maybe never with that much skin? She ate a whole batch of chicken and sweet potato jerky with no problem (last batch ran out about a month ago-this is from the new batch I was making--just cooked, not dehyrdated yet) I could tell she felt better already last night and this morning she seemed to be just fine. She's been fine all day. I guess it truly was something she ate that she couldn't process. |
I've had that same senario happen with Rylee Belle. They almost act like they are in trouble or something. Anyway, glad he is feeling better today! These Yorkies do tend to have sensitive stomachs. |
I'm so glad she is better and I hope that solved the mystery. I know how it is to worry and not know what is wrong. |
