Yorkie's nail is about to come off :( I was just going to sit on my sofa today and my yorkie moved to the side and hurt himself. He cried and is sitting on his bed depressed right now. It looks like a nail wants to come out of his feet and I don't know what to do. Should I try to cut it off or just let him heal it naturally- I feel like a horrible mother because I don't know what I can do for him- the injury doesn't look that bad but the nail does look like it wants to come out. |
I would take him to the vet ASAP, he is clearly in severe discomfort. I would not cut off the nail or let it heal naturally, let a vet decide. Best of luck and I hope he feels better soon. |
I agree, let the vet see to it. Nail injuries can be extremely painful and can easily become infected, and if it breaks off can bleed profusely. If it does break and bleed, grab some flour from the kitchen and pack it onto the nail and pinch with your thumb and forefinger till the bleeding stops. Gently and slowly remove your fingers from the nail... leave the flour on and keep a good eye on it on your way to the vet. |
I agree with the others - please take him to the vet before they close for the day. My Romeo had a hairline fracture on his little toe which was extremely painful--- the vets almost didn't see it because it was so tiny and I am glad they scrutinized the xrays until they found the source of discomfort and did not dismiss us lightly. |
