Prayers for my Bubbles please 1 Attachment(s) I may be making too much out of this (my husband says I am) but I'm worried. Last night, Bubbles (11 years old) started vomiting several times. Earlier in the evening she was fine and ate most of her supper. As far as I know, she didn't eat anything inappropriate between supper and the vomiting incidents...she always has a Teenie Greenie right before bedtime, and she also ate that without any problems. We called the vet, and he suggested that we give her 1/4 of a Pepcid tablet. We tried giving it to her tucked inside a Pill Pocket, and she wouldn't touch it. That's when I really started to get concerned because she normally LOVES those every month when it's time for her Sentinel tab. We then tried with peanut butter and also with bread. She declined all of those options. We tried giving her just a dog biscuit and she wouldn't eat that either. (This is a Yorkie who NEVER refuses a treat...ever). We finally got as much of the Pepcid tablet in her mouth as we could and finally went to sleep about 2am. Woke up this morning about 7 to find a large liquid-y pool of diarrhea in the hall (sorry for being so explicit). We called the vet again. He didn't sound terribly concerned; told us to give her a 1/4 tablet of Immodium and let him know if things get any worse. It's almost 12 hours later. Things aren't any worse, but they aren't any better either. I'm concerned about dehydration, but every time she tries to drink some water (and she has been trying to drink A LOT) she vomits it back up again about 10-15 minutes later. The Immodium seems to have controlled the diarrhea, but she still looks pretty lethargic. My husband is going to take her to the vet tomorrow morning if there is no change by then (unfortunately, I have a dental surgery appointment that I can't change, so they'll have to go to the vet without me. :(). I guess I'm just looking for prayers, support, encouragement, reality of what to expect...I've been beside myself with worry all day. I don't post here often, but I have used this board as a go-to resource more often than you can possibly know. Thanks in advance. Here's my baby in a pic from a few weeks ago: |
Aw Bubbles what a sweet face. I am sorry she isn't feeling well. I don't have any advice just that we are praying for her. |
I wonder if she is just sick or if she might have a blockage and I think only an x-ray can show if that is the case. I am always suspicious of greenies causing blockages, but that is just a possibility. The next time you need to get the pepcid down her and she won't take it just smash it and add a few drops of water and give it to her with a dropper or your fingers. You'll get enough in her to do some good. I'll keep her in my prayers. |
Bubbles is too cute. So sorry she's not feeling well. Prayers that it isn't anything serious and she's feeling better very soon. (Also hope everything goes well with your dental surgery.) |

Bubbles looked really lethargic this morning when we took her to the vet. She was extremely dehydrated and they started her on an IV. The vet is keeping her overnight. They're going to do an ultrasound and some blood tests on her tomorrow because she's losing proteins and they need to find out why. It could be high blood pressure, could be kidney failure, could be a tumor. Right now, I have no idea if what's wrong is life threatening or not and I won't know until tomorrow afternoon when the results come back. We visited her at the vet about an hour ago...she looks a lot better after the IV, but she's still not back to normal. Please, please, please continue sending prayers for my baby. Thank you. |
sending healing prayers for your bubbles...i will keep her in my thoughts. |
