Red splotches on Sophia 3 Attachment(s) This morning, we went to give Sophia a belly rub, and I noticed these 2 splotches on her chest:eek:. They are not sensitive to the touch, she's not itching, the splotches are not raised. They almost look like hickeys. Photos are attached (sorry about the quality, she was being a sleeping beauty and I did not want to disturb by turning the lights on) The first thing I thought was about Friday. We went out for 2.5 hours on friday (petsmart, petco, walking outside). So maybe it could be her buddy belt since it is still relatively new. But I put the buddy belt on, and the red marks don't seem to match with where the buddy belt rests. We also did use yorkie splash and shine shampoo for the first time on Thursday, but didn't see these marks until Today. I feel so bad, she's not acting any different at all and isn't in any pain. Brody got his rabies shot yesterday so I was paying a lot of attention to him, so I hope this wasn't here yesterday and I missed it!:confused::confused: I'm going to call the vet tomorrow, but if it gets worse or she's showing any signs of discomfort, she's going to the ER vet. If you have any clue about what it could be, please let me know because I'm baffled!:confused::confused: :( :( |
When you look at the splocthes is the skin broken anywhere. I'm sorry but your pics weren't so clear to my "oldish" eyes. Truthfully the first thing I thought of when I saw the first pic, was an "insect bite of some kind". I do agree with taking her to the vet tomorrow. It could be atopic dermatitis. Your plan sounds like a good one; see the regular vet tomorrow, unless her health conditions changes today. |
Possibly a bite bruise from rough play? IDK... anything rough on the skin side of her Buddy Belt? And what Gail said.... |

I just deleted pics of Maggie when she had a similar thing. I watched them for signs of changing and nothing seemed wrong. They were gone in a few days. I think they were spider or bug bites. It made sense because they were on the part of her that has the least hair (hers were closer to her groin area). You can rush to the vet, but unless they are spreading or other symptoms of a problem develop I probably would wait it out a few days. Maybe just give them a call. |

It looks like that harness may have rubbed against it when she is walking??? |
Max has had some similar spots on his undercarriage that our vet wasn't quite sure what they are. The vet thought maybe some kind of allergy. Theresa has a thread in the health section about Riley's spots...I'll find that in a minute. Sophia's do a look a little more like a bruise. I don't think it would be the BB or tugging hair -- I "helicopter" my boys in the harnesses and they have had some pretty good tangles in their armpits and never bruised. |

Here is Theresa's thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...allergies.html Our boys get the same weird red spots that we can't tell if they are bug bites or just some sort allergy, as the vet suggested. Max has 2 right now that are dried up and almost healed. |

It's not impossible that it is the harness, but I doubt it because as you said, it would probably be both sides of her chest -- and I'm thinking the way my guys pull and jerk when they want to attack a squirrel or passing motorcycle, they would have bruised by now. Keep an eye on it tonight. |

Good girl Sophia not pulling! I know what you mean about staring and obsessing when something isn't perfect. Everyone is sleeping here too. Must be the weather. Get a better picture, and I will try to get a picture of Max's 2 spots -- if there is anything left to see. His are on his inner back leg. I'm confident that you don't need to worry about going to the emergency room today. Depending on what the spots look like tomorrow, you may want to take Sophia to have the vet take a look. The main thing with the kind of spots Max gets is that I have to keep them clean and dry and watch that they don't get infected and turn into a staph infection. |
I'm not expert but it did look like a bruise to me...and maybe her buddy belt wasn't on in exactly the same place...also you're holding her leg away to take the pic...the belt could have been rubbing there just my opinion... |
