I'm so sorry this happened. Sending lots of prayers for little Gina. She looks like such a precious girl.

I tried pepper spray, the strength the police use, and it was completely useless on my neighbors Chow that was coming through my wooden fence, trying to get to my Yorkies....I will keep carrying my axe handle before I let a vicious stray kill one of my babies......or ME!!!!!!!!

Scary thing is when dogs are so intent on grabbing and killing another dog - pepper spray other such methods seldom phase then. I personally just got a "walking stick" that'll be carried with me on walks from now on! I will also start carrying pepper spray.

Just called and checked, said she's resting and seems comfortable for now, about like she's been all night. They're want to let her fully stabalize before surgery as long as she's comfortable - so will call again later tonight.

Yeah thats the way I feel too the dog shouldnt e out running loose. If its a threat to me or my loved ones I would do whatever I had to

Me to :(. They're trying to get her as stable as possible and as pain free as possible before surgery - hopefully by this afternoon we'll know more.

Oh poor baby! Thank goodness she had you with all of your knowledge last night. Makes you afraid to go out for walks:eek:

Did they find the dog who attacked her?

I sure hope your in good shape to be wielding an axe handle against a vicous dog.....

Sadly I found it this morning dead in the road - I live near 2 pretty busy roads.

Very true, but I don't know even with it gone if I'll ever feel safe walking my dogs again!

Excellent shape! .....but I practice crisis avoidance rather than crisis management, and I dont walk my dogs off my property anymore....that Chow next door to us used to routinely escape his yard and prowl the neighborhood, and I was afraid he may still be mad about that pepper spray!

Yes, it is sad, but what that dog did to poor little old Gina, who was minding her own business, out for a nice stroll....to me, THAT is what is sad....I am so hopeful she can pull through this.....everytime I re-read your posts, I worry more...all the issues she already had, plus her age, plus a possible perforated bowel....I do not honestly know what the mortality rate for perforated bowel with intra abdominal spillage is in a senior dog, but I know what it is in a human......I am very afraid....soon as you get any new something, please update.....
