I think I posted about this before... Peek was coming into the house and I saw him take a bad step, then he limped into the house. I snatched him up saying 'Peek A Boo, What have you done?' I checked his foot for a foreign body and found none, he got squirmy, so I kissed his knee and put him down, and watched him walk away like nothing had happened! I kept a close eye on him for the next few weeks... actually still do, but it has never recurred...KOW!:eek:

PS: Some dogs have a very low pain threshold...

One dog that came into the vet's for an evaluation walked with quite an obvious limp. The vet had the owner walk the dog past him, then turn around and walk back past him again. Each time, the dog limped on the side closest to the vet!... lol.

Thanks everyone for all the info.

Gail - I have a kiddie pool in the backyard, so they can't actually go swimming. I have no problem looking into a real pool at the right time to help my dogs. The exercise you described - isn't that too strenuous for Cooper?

Kathy - Thanks for all the info. However, at this time I'm not going to go for a second opinion. I'm comfortable purchasing Cosequin (once i figure out which one) and taking it from there. If indeed any symptoms develop I will get a second opinion.

Ann - I hope my Cooper is a trooper like Wylie.

Theresa - Nutramax only. You can get it on Amazon. I'll have to survey everyone to see if they like the soft chews, tablets, etc. Amazon.com: cosequin

UPDATE - Cooper Does Not Have Grade II
 
Cooper went to a new vet today for his annual exam today and to get his rabies shot. 2 of the vets there examined his back legs and said they probably would not have even noticed he had any form of LP unless I asked them to check. If anything it's a slight grade I and they said it's absolutely nothing to worry about right now.:)

YAAAY!!!! That is GREAT News!! :thumbup:
Riley goes mid-September for his 2-year check-up.
Fingers crossed he gets the same kind of news. :D

Both my boys have grade four in both knees. Neither one is slowed down by them. My old man (Max the 11 y/o) just this year started holding his left leg up over the last few months, but only after a hard sleep until he stretches out.

Great news, Karen! Betty Boop has Grade II in both knees and has had it for almost her entire 3 years I've never limited her play. In fact, the dh is throwing one of your squeaky balls and she is a ball of fire. She hasn't slowed down all day. I give her Cosequin every day. I hope Cooper continues to do well.

Do you still carry the squeaky balls?

I'm going to give both my boys Cosequin. I do still sell the squeaky balls but I ran out of stock because I gave them all to cooper and max :rolleyes: I should have more in about 2 weeks.

Oh my Karen, just saw this post concerning Cooper and was so sorry to hear of this condition. :( But as others have stated, with a Mommy like you who takes such great care of your Boyz, I know Cooper will have the best care that money can't buy! ;) So happy to hear that Cooper's LP is so slight at this time. Sending Hugs to Cooper and Max also. :)
