Hello!!! What a great thing for you to do. Yorkies are the best!!! I am pretty new too but you will learn fast about EVERYTHING here. It sounds like you have a lot of information about food but I didn't see much about a brush. "Maximo", she is a YTer and she sells woodpin brushes for a good price. I made the mistake of buying an over priced one online. You will not find a brush at a pet store that will work well with their hair. That is my only advise. Good luck sweetie! |
......." My old guys eat rice, chicken and green bean mix. I cook the chicken and use a food processor to chop the chicken and green beans.".............Can you give a ratio of this threesome combination? Wonder if rice, chicken, and a ? amount of canned or frozen "vegtable Medley" would provide enough nutrition? Again, approximate ratios between the three ingredients would be so helpful.... |
Congratulations on your rescue! |
I hope your little guy is still doing well. If he still doesn't like the sound of the spray from the detangler, try putting a little in your hands and rubbing it into his hair. Yorkies are funny! They might be scared of something you wouldn't expect them to be afraid of and not scared at all of something you would expect. |
Welcome! I like Taste of the Wild Roasted Wetlands Foul kibble and Madam Brushed from minimomo (a member here). People here told me about using corn starch to get mattes out-its amazing! You really found the best place a wealth of information here. We want pics! Also i didn't see if you were told this yet-always use a harness and not a collar for walking a Yorkie they have very sensitive throats and (CT refereed to her a lot ) collapsing trachea is a very serious breed issue. Congrats to both you and him on finding eachother! |
Sounds like great advice so far! Be careful with Blue - ingredients are good but I find their quality control is poor and seen alot of dogs get sick on it - try Wellness Core, Acana, Orijen, By Nature, or Natural Balance. Taste of the Wild is also an excellent food! I find a mix of wet and dry generally seems to be the best option for many dogs regardless of breed - bless you for rescueing him and giving him the life he deserves! |
