With so many serious symptoms, if it was a shunt the liver enzymes really should have been up. Do you have the Bloodwork? It does sound a lot like kidney failure to me. The weird breath would come with that. Yes, kidney stones can be secondary to LS, but the vet probably would have caught a liver problem. |

Mine Puppy Had Giardia and all it does it give them diarrhea I cannot imagine that is the cause of this. I would agree to take them to the ER straight away before she become hypoglycemic. Yes it is usually expensive but damn its better to be safe then sorry with that kind of thing. |
Also I would agree about the liver shunts I was suspecting Something was wrong with brutus for quite awhile so I took him in again because he had diarrhea at the time and made them do bloodwork. My vet had thought possible giardia again but I was sure it wasnt that. This was last tues and I found out his levels were off wed and thurs he had the bile acid test. I got the results back on friday and they said most likely a shunt so I made an apt for monday to get an ultrasound done. Low and behold Friday night he had a seizure and we had to rush him to the vets and they kept him over night and did the ultrasound in the morning. He indeed does have and shunt but they put him on prescription food and medicine until they doing surgery. Now Let me tell you he is doing 10 times better than he was and he is up and playing and eating alot. The point is all this went down within days so I would definately take her. |

Oh and forgot to add ner Giardia test came back negative, but at this point, I dont believe a thing this vet is telling me anymore. |
You and your pup are in my thoughts and prayers. |
So the specialist is completely booked through next week. However, the lady is managing to squeeze me in tomorrow at 9:30am. I did have an appt with Macie's regular vet to get her fluids at 9am. Not sure if I should cancel and go straight to the specialist or try to make both appts. She did tell me it was in Macie's best interest not to wait til next week. |

I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this with Macie. Praying you get answers tomorrow and she gets feeing better very soon. |
Good. No need to go to regular vet then. The specialist will be able to tell you if it's kidney or liver or both. They may want to see the X-rays and a copy of today's Bloodwork might be helpful to them. |
