my yorkie is limping after sleeping - front left paw Drake is my 8lb yorkie bichon (yo-chon) who is 9 months old. Every time he wakes up from sleeping he is limping and picking up his front left leg. After about 10 minutes he is back to normal running around. We checked his paws and his joints and they all seemd to look fine. He didnt cry while we checked these areas. What do you guys think the reason for his limping could be? |
Hi and Welcome to YT! It would be best to have your vet take a look at him. Dogs can injure themselves jumping off of the furniture, or just taking a bad step. An injured leg may feel warmer to the touch than the other legs. He may need cage rest to recover, depending on what the problem is. |
There are a whole lot of things it could be, and your vet is best to see about this. It can be something as simple as a muscle strain, a tendonitis, or early signs of Elbow Dysplasia. |
Vet check in order! Also, check for lymes disease! Jackson came up limping, seemingly randomly, and it ended up being lymes. |
Could it be as simple as his foot went numb after lying on it funny? Dexter sometimes walks with his back right paw off the ground, vet found nothing, I just put it down to him being a weirdo :D |
I was having this same problem with Rhylie and then today he yelped hard when jumping and limped on other front paw. I rushed him to vet and they are sending us to surgeon without clearly having a diagnosis. Negative Lymes leg elbow shows a space 1/8 inch between elbow and extended bone, other front paw which is what he had been limping on after waking only has a hairline open space between elbow and straight bone. Has me very scared. Any thought or input this seems to be a common problem. |
