Poor baby, I'll keep her in my prayers. Please keep us informed, as we will all be looking for news of little Sophie. |
Just wanting to know how your little one is doing? I hope and pray that she is on the road to recovery and will be back home with you soon. |
I'm so sorry your little one is so ill:( I hope that she's doing much better now. When you have a chance, please update us on how she's doing:love: |
Just checking in to see how little Sophie was doing. Praying she's now on her way to a full recovery. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your little one. |
Looking for an update on this baby...........???? Praying "no news" is NOT "bad news".......praying she has instead turned the corner and is recovering well.... |
Looking for an update on Sophie. I hope she is doing well. |
I also keep checking back on this thread hoping for a good report. I hope your baby is getting better each day. |
How is she doing? :aimeeyork |
Oh, I really hate when someone doesn't update, it makes me think the worst has happened:( I hope this tiny one is recovering well and she's just busy taking care of her. |
I like to think they found YT in a time of need and are too busy enjoying their healthy happy furbaby to get back on...or at least that's what I repeatably tell myself. |
Hello All, I to am also new to YT. My little Rambo was 10 weeks old when we brought him home and had all his puppy shots from the breeder. He was starting obedience classes on January 9 so we took him to the Vet on Jan 7 for his 12 week shots and Bordetella and my Vet told me that when the breeders give Parvo when they are 6 or 8 weeks old it's not effective. The other shots that they get at the same time override the Parvo. So Rambo got a Parvo shot that day and we went back two weeks later for the second one. Just thought I would let you know. If you are bringing home a new baby and you've been told they already had their Parvo shot maybe check with your Vet and see what their policy is on Parvo shots and when the pup is to get it. |

I seem to have hit a nerve. My apologies. I was only sharing what happened to me with Rambo's shot. |

She was trying to help you-educate you and anyone else who might read this and was explaining some more detailed information as to what you were told and why-what type of practice that is. I saw it more as a reaching out to you in kindness.:) Please be leery of over vaccinating and vaccinating too early, multi vaccine etc. <--your dog's health and life is dependent on these things :( Yorkie Talk is a wealth of information. |
You are more than likely correct but to me it just felt like I was being "told off" or what I had said was wrong. Again, I was only sharing what my vet told me. If you can't trust your vet you are in trouble. I do enjoy this site and have learned a lot. This is my first Yorkie not but my first dog. |
Unfortunately vets are just like Dr.s you have to find a good one, that suits you. |
i hope all goes well GOD BLESS U N UR SOPHIE |
How is Sophie? Sending prayers |
Wondering how your Sophie is doing? Parvo is a horrific thing for our babies, and it is sooo contagious....many of us on here have fought to save our babies' lives....it cost an enormous amount in emotions and money, as well as the toll it takes on the babies. The virus many times affects these babies later in life, with things like heart murmurs....one of the babies in that parvo litter I had, now has "dry eye"...according to the opthomologist specialist that we went to for treratment, the virus apparently switched off the nerve that is stimulated to produce lubricant for the eye, so he will need to have eye care twice a day for the rest of his life. He will remain here at Rosehill with me, as I do not want him to ever go to a forever home and for whatever reason, they would not see that this was done for him. I hope your little Sophie is doing well....and has no residual effects from this virus. |
Sophie is home and doing very well. Thanks for your support. Thanks to all for your prayers and kind words of support. This is my fourth try at posting a reply within the last several days. My responses seem to fly out into cyberspace. I don't know why this has happened, but this time I'll copy my post since I seem to ramble and type such long messages before hitting send, then poof it's gone!! OK, here goes... Sophie is home and has regained much of her strength. She is definitely a little fighter. She came home after 10 days in the hospital weighing only one pound. Her hair in several spots was so matted next to her skin, that no shampoo and detangler could help. I carefully cut these out after she was home for a week during her first bath. She's lost lots of hair but she is so spunky and sooooo smart. My love for her cannot be measured. She received round the clock care from the doctors and hospital staff. I cannot thank and praise the staff at the vetenarian hospital enough, Sophie was given extrodinary care. Since she was in isolation I could not visit her to give her moral support to live, but her doctor did the next best thing, she allowed a couple of Sophie's toys and blanket to be placed next to her in her bed. One toy I chose was Sophie's teddy bear that plays the children's nighttime prayer, "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep....". Sophie would press on the hand with her mouth while playing with her favorite teddy to start this tune. Since she couldn't do this, each of the hospital care team would press the hand when they were at her bedside. Therefore this comforting tune from her home along with her toys and blanket gave her reassurance that I didn't abondon her. She was weak for the first week after returning home but she was so glad to see me and her other family members. After spending 7 days on three medicines including an antibiotic along with pedilite and a drop of karo syrup each day, she's almost back to normal. She's growling as she plays with her toys and her older and bigger brother. She outruns our other two dogs, too. She's a fantastic little fighter. I'll be posting photos later. Love and gratitude to you all. :animal-pa:) |
What wonderful news!!! I am so happy for you and that precious little baby!!!! Cant wait to see pics of her....I just bet she is adorable!!! Congratulations and I know she is so happy to be home with her momma and family! |
I am so thankful that your Sophie is getting stronger. As my vet would have said she is a little trooper. Hopefully you and your family can sit back awhile and love your precious little girl. |
Thank you for updating! So glad it is such good news! |
Great news... so happy to hear she is home... |
I uploaded a photo of Sophie for all her friends here on YorkieTalk :animal-pa Hi everyone, I just now uploaded a photo of Sophie but how do I get this photo to show beside my name? Thanks for all suggestions. I did find out why my updates went off into cyberspace earlier. They were too long and timed out!!!! I saved the one I sent yesterday by copying it before hitting send. Thank goodness I did, because it went also into cyberspace. I went back in and pasted to this forum and hit send, poof,,, it actually posted, hooray. Thanks again for all your support. Now I'm asking for suggestions for vet. insurance. I'm scared she'll get sick with a bacterial infection, since she's a little canine vacume cleaner when she goes out into our well kept yard that unfortunately is shared by my sister and her cat!!! |
I'm glad to hear she is home and doing well! |
Sophie is 3 lb. now, she's so smart fiesty. I do believe she has human genes!! 1 Attachment(s) :animal-paOur little Sophie is healthy now, getting her regular inoculations and nutrution. She's up to 3 lb and very fiesty. She will take a treat away from a 110 lb German Shepard. She's sitting in my chair now knawing and pulling away on the other dog's treat. I've been disposed from my recliner; so this is my life and I'm loving it. Sophie knows so many words and phrases, I'm expecting her to answer me back at anytime!!! Again thanks for all your support during the dark days while she was fighting for her life.;) Love to you all from Sophie and Sophie's mom, TRose:love: |
She is absolutely adorable!!! I am so happy she recovered from this terrible disease....it is a devastating disease and you are fortunate you got her to vets that could "throw everything but the kitchen sink" at her and save her life! How fortunate for all involved! |
OMG she is such a cutie!! I have just read this thread and I am so happy that she is recovering from this horrible illness. I recall as a child our dog lab/sheppard X got parvo and it was awful! We almost lost him. With the mortality rate from parvo being so high your little girl is one tough cookie! Welcome to YT!! |
