Elsy's sick Poor little Elsy is sick. Two Sat nights ago I mad the mistake of giving her a couple of pieces of baked chicken breast. She ended up with bloody foul smelling diarrhea and started vomiting. I gave her a flagyl and she got better. Then this sat she had an episode of vomiting right before I left to go stay with my dad and my husband said she did it off and on during the night. I got home Sun and she was fine. Ate and drank well with no problems. Monday did fine. Tuesday morning did fine. I had to leave for a couple of hours during the afternoon on Tues and when I got home she had diarrhea once and then some vomiting last night. Had to go get the car serviced today and took her with me and she did fine. Took her to the vet this afternoon and he said everything looked good but put her on flagyl for 1 week in case her tummy might still be irritated. He also said it could be from stress. She has been really clingy lately. She knows when I'm getting ready to go somewhere and my husband says when I'm not here she will sit and whine. He won't even take her out because he says she heads staight for the driveway looking for me (we live out in the country). Does anyone else have a little one that gets stressed and has vomiting and diarrhea? If this is the problem I guess she'll be going to my dad's with me. |
Poor Elsy! Has she always had a sensitive system or sensitivities to certain foods? Does she have any history of pancreatitis? I think that would be my major concern. Stress is thought to be one of the many possible triggers. The clingyness may also be an indication that something is wrong. When Max had his first eye problem, the only symptom that something was wrong was that he was unusually clingy. Sending prayers for Elsy that this can be figured out and resolved quickly. |
I got her when she was 11 mos old. She is 3 now and has only had a problem one other time. All of mine have been on Natures Balance for awhile now and Elsy has not had any problems until now. I have an elderly girl that has problems with pancreatitis but she can even eat Natures Balance. That's a good thing because she refuses to eat the Rx diet. I'll be calling the vet if it continues because he said he'll do labs. She has been fine all day today. |
Hoping she's doing better. Sending good thoughts your way. |
Poor little Elsy:( My mom's Biewer Jazzy does this same thing if she gets stressed. Jazzy is a gentle little soul and the least little break in her routine stresses her. My Jada is allergic to chicken and it causes her to itch and to have loose stools. I pray your Elsy feels better soon. |
I'm sorry Elsy isn't feeling well. Sending prayers and huggins for her. |
hope shes feeling betta poor baby. |
Poor baby, sending prayers Elsy starts feeling much better. |
Poor little baby! I never realized that I could hurt my babies by being too attentive and loving with them, but my middle little Yorkie struggled with depression when I would leave her. My husband was always home with her, but she still waited at the top of the landing looking for me to come home each day. Since I am a teacher and have my summers off, the fall was always very difficult for Kiwi to cope with, and her colitis would really act up. She had bloody diarrhea a lot and vomiting at times. She took Centrine when her colitis acted up. She was such a happy little girl most of the time but it was so sad to see her be so unhappy when I wasn't around. She adored my husband, but she seemed to want both of us home with her. I really hope Elsie feels better very soon and that the doctor can find something to minimize her symptoms when she gets stressed. |
No vomiting or diarrhea yesterday or today but she has been right with me. I'll be gone for about 2 1/2 hours tonight and she'll be with my husband and her sissies so we'll see how things go. |

I know this is a little thing for a big problem, but try leaving her with a piece of your clothing that you have worn, like a soft tshirt to cuddle up with. If she has problems tonight, then start looking at the list of anti-anxiety aids: over-the-counter natural remedies, prescription meds, Thundershirts. I'm sure there are more. |
Could be stress. If she has diarrhea often maybe a stool sample would be a good idea. You should try to write down what went on when she has episodes to see if it's only when you've been away. |
I left her with my husband tonight for almost 3 hrs and she did have alittle diarrhea while I was gone. Nothing at all today when I was home. She is eating and drinking and is acting fine. It's got me baffled. I hope she's not getting so stressed when I'm gone that it's making her sick. |
Hope Elsy recovers quickly.... just thinking... I don't think mine have had a stress colitis since I put them on Probiotics.... |
