stomach growling-please help My 4 month old boy has been lethargic since yesterday afternoon...he feels warm (but he always does). He is alert when called but just wants to sleep. His stomach is growling and he started coughing or hicupping yesterday( Iam not sure what it is). He hasn't done either today. This morning ther ewas a little red in his stool and I am worried it might be blood. any of these symptoms make sense? |
I'm not sure what is wrong with him but you should take him to the vet. |
Are you giving him Nutrical? If you saw blood in his stool please take him to the vet today! And keep us updated! Good Luck I hope he is feeling better soon! |
Please take him to the Vet. He may have eaten something that is not agreeing with his tummy. My little guy, TJ has 'digestive issues' that we have finally (sorta) have control over. But his rear body area would make these loud gurgling noises, he would have some thread like blood in his poop and he had LOTS of mucus when he pooped. The best thing that I could suggest would be to go to the Vet and also keep logs of behavior, what he eats and how he poop is, etc. Please keep us informed and I hope he feels better soon! |
thanks guys...we just returned from the Vet. Diego seems fine according to the dr...she sent the stool sample I gave her to the lab. By looking at it she said she was not too concerned. she gave me 250 mg ofMetronidazole...he is to take 1/8 of a tablet 2 x daily...she also gave me Panacur -1 packet sprinkled on his food daily for 3 days. Also w/d-1tlbspoon 2x daily for 3 days...he loves this stuff, I have to ween him off it after 3 days and go back to the dry food I was feeding him. I hope he is ok, he is still lethargic. Sorry for all the detail but I figured it might be helpful for anyone going through the same thing,. I'll keep you posted. Thanks so much for your concern. |
Gracie the yorkie I had befor Cali had a very sensitive stomach and was diagnosed with colitis. When her stomache started making noises I would give her the Metronidazole and it cleared up. Hope he's feeling better soon. |
Tamara - Take your dog to the vet. There are so many different things that can cause these symptoms in your dog. Some aren't serious and others are. I definitely do not take my animals to the vet for every little thing - but I would if he didn't feel well and I saw any blood in his stool. Growling stomachs are not necessarily a bad sign. When you go to the doctor, he will usually listen to your stomach. If he hears some noise going on, he knows your stomach and intestines are doing their job. It's when there is no noise, that they might be a problem. A lack of stomach noise can be the result of an obstruction or other problem. I listened to one of my dog's stomachs once and it sounded like a band concert going on in there --- it was a perfectly normal stomach at work. And - don't we all have times when our stomach want to growl - it's usually just air moving around - not always a problem. Good luck - Carol Jean |
Glad you took your baby to the vet. The meds she gave are exactly what my vets use so you are doing all the right things. These little ones can go down in a couple of hours if they have HGE-Hemorrhagic Gastro-enteritis.... Your baby is on the mend, but bet mom is still not calmed down, huh?? |
