Grooming Nightmare!! I took my yorkies to the groomer(i have three) that I have used for 6yrs.When i picked them up Bandit was panting a lot.I thought it was due to the weather being in the 80s for two days.Normal around here is in the 60's.Well 2 days later I went to pick him up he yelped. That when I noticed burns on his private area and belly.Took him to the vet ...yep it is burns,he is on an oral antibiotics, pain meds aeveno baths and a salve on the burns. The vet offered to contact the groomer,I said I would do it .Thinking they would be as upset as i am.Nope told me it didn't happen there. Now I am damn pissed.A responsible business would accept blame.Should I take them to small claims court for the vet bills, only 150 so far,it is not about the money,I understand things happen, but the non caring attitude was bulls**t.I want other people to know what happened so they can make an informed choice, when taking there dog there. |
That is awful and I do not think I would go back there. Years ago we had a groomer grooming our Keally [She has passed on] and the lady was hitting her. That was it Keally would go crazy when we brought her back there and then when I handed her a treat she was frightened. That was it and I let others know about her and found she did the same to other yorkies. Anyways we were in Florida for the winter and sent our Kinder to a veterinary clinic groomer. How terriable they nicked her nose so my husband told them. They denied it and said we brought her in like that. We were going to talk to the clinic but they were taking our money on our parrot which was sick. We dropped them and brought the parrot to another doctor and now he is fine. You think a veterinary clinic would be reliable but they were not.I think I would go to the groomer's place and show her your furbaby and ask her to pay for the bill. If she doesn't then move on to another groomer. I am trying to groom Kinder myself til we get home and maybe you could do that. I have the best groomer in the world and he is so careful and loves dogs. Hope all goes well but I know I would be teed off. Susan |
I am so sorry to hear about your experience. I had a similar experience with a groomer. It was Romeo's second grooming after I'd gotten him and this groomer was at the breeder's and highly recommended. Two days after his grooming I was scratching Romeo's head when I came across a bump. On closer inspection I noticed there was a partial scab and what looked like a HOLE! I rushed him over to the vet who confirmed that the wound was the result of a sharp object! I was furious and thought of confronting the groomer but I know she'd only deny it and insist my baby was hurt in my home. Needless to say I have never gone back to the groomer. I now have a stylist who takes utmost care with Romeo. |
If you lived near I would think it's the groomer I took Georgie too! The same thing happened to Georgie!!!! It was before he was neutered and we took him and when we brought him home he rolled over on his belly and immediately noticed it:( I called the groomer and they accepted blame but didn't act like it was a big deal. I was p*ssed like you are! I am very sorry this happened to you too! Hope your baby feels better soon. |
Yes, take it to small claims court. Don't let them get by with such a terrible thing. They should have been honest about it when you picked him up, but since they lied, then they need to be brought up on charges. I hope you took lots of pictures of the burns, and get a letter from the Vet. You definitely have a case and "will" win. Maybe this will jolt them into being more careful. You will no doubt be helping other fur babies. Another thing you could do is go tell the groomer that if they don't pay the Vet. bill, that you will have a picture of the burns blown up and will picket in front of her business. (knowing me, I'd picket even IF she paid the Vet. bill, because she lied and tried to get out of it). |
Maybe ask your vet to contact her as he had offered to do. Then if that didn't work, court. |

that is terrible, I hope your little one is okay, that pisses me off, I would do the small claims court this is be. I get so mad at this stuff, dont mess with a fellow yorkie |
I'd also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau |
Years ago, I took grooming classes from friends (now former friends) who owned a Pet Salon. I seen some stuff believe me. But one thing really got to me. There was this tiny 3 pound Poodle who was to be shaved, tail, ears and top knot left long. As the owner of the shop shave the tiny ones legg she cut it, deep! It was bleeding pretty bad. She took super glue and glued it shut, acted like it was no big deal, and went about her buisness. I, being a novice, was told not to worry about it, she would make it ok with the owner and basically mind my own buisness. She never told the owner that she super glued it. She told her she nicked her and it would be fine in a day or two. But it was getting pretty swollen. I found out later that the owner took that poor lil thing to her Vet. It had to have surgery and blood because a vein was cut and it had been bleeding inside of where it was super glued shut for at least 24 hours...The groomer was taken to court!!! I quit!!! |
Hi! I am so sorry that happened to your baby :( I used to intern with a grooming salon, and you can definitely do something about it..I would not let it go. No dog EVER is supposed to have that happen. I feel so bad that your dog had to go to through that and I hope that the groomer who did that never puts anther dog through that ever again! Again I am so sorry that happened to :( I hope you baby gets better ASAP |
