Exploratory Surgery in January now she has a large lump on incision?? Hi, I posted a lot of questions a month ago about stomach issues. Since then she seems to be doing a lot better other then still having regurgitation burps. Today I was brushing her and flipped her over to brush her belly and noticed a lump about the width of my thumb and the size of my thumb nail on top of her incision scar. It is raised and red with a dark spot inside it. It doesnt seem hard at all. I would say soft and I cant tell if its filled with anything but doesnt feel like there is a liquid in it. She had her surgery early January. Any advice on what it might be??? The vet recommended putting neosporin on it for a couple days and if that doesnt help bring her in on Friday. I had her harness on her this week for the first time since surgery, but I put it on tonight when I noticed the lump to see if it rubs there and I really dont think it rubs that area. Has any one ever experienced an infection this far after surgery or maybe a possible hernia from the surgery? Thanks any advice is much appreciated. |

yeah the later the night gets the more I regret not taking her in tonight. I called this morning instead of taking her in. Her vet doesnt work again until Friday. They have other vets there tomorrow I might just take her to see one of them. What did your pups hernia feel and look like? Im really worried thats what it is. |
Could it be from an internal suture if not a hernia. I saw something kind of like this listed on another thread. Let the vet decide and hope it's nothing bad. |
I would get her back to the vet as it could be the sutures on the inside causing an infection, or a hernia. |
Thanks.:) When I called the vet those were the two things she thought could be causing the lump. She said possible that the suture caused an infection or maybe a hernia. Im just paranoid its a hernia since its been so long since the surgery. I thought the sutures would have dissolved by now. Her sutures did get infected when she first had the surgery and they put her on more antibiotics. This doesnt look the same but maybe it was the outside sutures infected the first time and thats why it looks different?? Im sure she will make it through the night lol but I am unsure if I will! The stress of not knowing is killing me! Poor baby doesnt need another surgery, she has just now started showing signs of improvement from whatever was causing her to vomit for three months.:( |
Poor baby, I hope the vet can easily tell what is causing her problem. |
Went to the vet today. They think its an infection and gave her an antibiotic shot. I am so thankful it is not a hernia! I was so worried. They did believe it is from an internal suture that has not dissolved yet. She said if it keeps bothering after the antibiotics they may have to remove it. Hopefully the antibiotics work so she doesnt have to have another surgery. |
