I would keep a keen eye on her, and hope that they pass, best of luck with her. hugs, |
It wouldn't hurt to get another xray at this point. Did you tell the vet that she did vomit 5 hours after feeding her? If not, call her back and tell her. It's important that the vet is aware of that. |
The fact that there was blood of any amt in the stool clearly shows that there is at least 1 tear already. It has been my experience that when surgery is not done & the dog forced to try & expel the SHARP foreign body that an x-ray was taken daily to follow the object & make sure the object is moving through & not lodged somewhere in the intestine & x-ray can also show if their has been bleeding. |

Hes going to X-ray her again on Tuesday to see if anything has changed. |
Only one symptom can indicate a problem...she doesn't have to be showing all three, or more. Okay, just where I worked the vets treated these types of cases a bit more proactively than yours is doing. |

I would like to thank each of you who replied to this thread. No matter if some thought it was worse than others did. Im learning alot for you ladies and I really appreciate it. :) |
One last suggestion, .... maybe get a 2nd opinion from a different vet. |

I'd be much more concerned with other symptoms, but I do think gi symptoms several days out warrants more investigation. I'm not sure why they are waiting a week to repeat the X-ray and maybe they have a good reason. But food moves through faster than that and there are bone hards in there. I'm surprised that they didn't have you come in today for an exam. I'd get confirmation that your pup is ok by another vet. |

Continuing prayers for sweet little Macie. Hope things are moving along and she will continue to improve. |
Shes pooped out some stuff that looks similar to bone fragments. Hopefully she'll keep her food down today and she'll continue to pass them. I know some of you are saying I should see another vet. Im going to get her X-rayed on Monday again. See how that goes, if he continues to keep her on meds, Im taking her to another vet. |

At 4m she pooped again! It was normal. YAY!! I put it in a zip lock again and smashed it. I know it sounds gross. Lol. Anyway, it felt like it had little pieces of sand in her poop. Some were bigger than others and they were a white color. Could her wet food cause the feeling of sand in her poop?? Or does it sound like its fragments passing? |
I'd be leaning towards fragments being passed.... |
LOL Boyfriend should do the poop smushing...that'll teach him! |
OP, how is your girl doing today? Hoping to hear an update tomorrow after she has her xray, sending well wishes! |

Im praying the X-ray comes back better than before. **Fingers crossed** |
Hope everything is okay! Keeping your little one in my prayers... |
*UPDATE* Macie went to the vet. He said shes passed most of the fragments, but shes still on antibiotics for the next week. Another follow up visit in a week. My problem Im having now is shes not wanting to eat the I/D wet food. He told me to mix it in with her Canidae, but she doesnt want to eat either of them Anyone have any advice on getting her to eat? |

Cheap food like lil caesars sometimes works too.. i have used that to entice the dogs when I have to deworm them... |
Just a thought ..... When Cali used to get picky and not want to eat I would get Freshpet Select slice and serve in the chicken, vegetable and rice recipe. It comes in a roll. It is for adult dogs, but she was crazy about it. I would get it in the grocery in a cooler in the pet food section. I still use it for added flavor. PS you can also freeze some of it for later. |
I use Gerber's 2nd Stage Chicken and Broth to get mine eating... or yogurt. |
The problem is the vet said he only wanted me feeding her the I/D wet food. She wont eat it though. Not sure what to do. |
A little enticement food mixed it should be fine. She needs to eat. If the vet said the I/D can be mixed with kibble than enticement is allowable in my book. I really hope the BF is paying for some of these vet. visits and cost since he is to blame. He should be chief poop inspector and feeder as punishment. The Flagyl can cause tummy upset. I hope your baby is feeling better soon. |
