Eye ulcer/hair loss around eyes As some of you might remember, back in November my Tink had an eye ulcer. On her last check up, the vet said she was doing ok. Keep up with the Science Diet rx food and hair around they eyes will grow...this was in December. We are now in March, I took her to the vet last month, watery eyes, hair won't grow and she is constantly scratching. Blood work, scrape, eye ulcer, all negative. Vet sent me off with Neo poly b 3.5gm, twice a day and hydroxyzine also twice a day....3 weeks later and her eyes seems worst and hair wont grow...what can it be?? I'm at the point of switching vets! |
I agree. Get a new vet asap. Those ulcers are not to be fooled with. Kayla had one in her left eye and her other eye had no symptoms of having one, but, they checked it too when I went back for the left one to be checked and sure enough she had one in the right eye. I put the drops in twice a day and it completely healed them. Get a new vet please and feed a better food than SD. |
I would think it is time for a specialist. |

Max had eye problems, corneal ulcers and watery eyes on and off. He had ectopic cilia, hair growing underneath his eyelid. Sometimes the hairs are so fine that they can go undetected even with examination under magnification. Did your vet do a fluorscein dye test on her eyes to rule out scratches or ulcers? |

Ask your vet about environmental testing for allergies...there is a blood test for that. Might be something to consider. Or, even get a consult with a dermatologist. |
Last summer Taycie lost all her eyelashes due to allergies. Now that she is on a RX diet and takes allergy meds for seasonal allergies and she does alot better! Her lashes are all back. I would look into it. Made a world a difference for Taycie |
