Update Just found out that Abbie will be discharged in one hour. So excited to have our fur baby back home where she belongs. Thanks for all the prayers. Will update again in 24 hours or so to let you know how her recovery at home is going. Thank you for the kind words, prayers, and support. What a wonderful community we are part of. Heather :) |
Excellent news! I'm sure she'll be happy to be home and with her family... as am I. :D |
Just a quick morning (in Japan) update. We had a hard night last night as I believe that the bronchodilators may have made Abbie restless. She would get into a deep sleep, start to snore (which must be a side effect from the bronchodilators since they relax the smooth muscle) and end up waking herself up. Every time she would stretch, snore, yawn, or twitch I would immediately wake up, turn on the lights, and check her resps and gums. I was up every hour until 3 AM at which point she and I fell into our first really good deep sleep (this is also about the time that the bronchodilators should have been wearing off and I noticed that she stopped snoring). My husband is working nights for the next week in preparation for a military exercise so Abbie and I had the entire bed to ourselves-and boy did she use it! She is in good spirits this morning, ate a treat and her wet food (still won't touch her dry food), and is still peeing like a race horse. I have dosed her morning meds and her breathing seems to be coming back to normal although it is still a little shallow and I've noticed that she still coughs a little when you pick her up (I assume it is because of the pressure on her lung). She enjoyed a 2 block car ride to the bus stop with my daughter this morning and has been alternating between naps and patrolling the neighborhood from the back of our couch. Seems that she is on the mend and I'll be glad when all is back to normal. Please keep us in your prayers. |
Oh my! First nights home can be scary! Glad you both got some rest, finally. She sounds as if she may still have a small amout of irritation in her lungs, just like when a person gets a productive type of cough. It will take time to clear up. Just let her take it easy, though, no marathons and stuff, lol. It's been a while since I've heard the expression 'peeing like a racehorse'...ROTFLMBO!:D Keeping you all in my prayers... |
Getting well Soon!!! There is nothing like having our sick babies home with us when we know what is wrong and that they will get better, its exhausting but great taking care of them! I hope your baby continues to do well and you too! Take care of you.. |
Thank you both! |
Update :) We just retuned from Abbie's 4 day follow up visit and according to the X-ray her lung is continuing to improve. I was able to view the X-ray and could see a tremendous improvement from the day she was admitted and a noticeable improvement even from 4 days ago. She still doesn't have her stamina back and can only walk a few meters on her leash before she gets winded. She has started begging for daily walks but we are taking it easy per vet instructions. She has been carrying her toys around all day long and I can tell she is getting stronger by the day. Since she isn't 100% yet the vet wants us to follow up in 7 days for another X-ray. In the meantime she will continue on antibiotics and bronchodilators. I'm so happy that our little girl is expected to make a full recovery! Thank you for your prayers and concern. |
I replied on your other thread....great news! |
